  • World BJJ championship. Ribeiro beats Roger

Roger defeated 10 guys, all by submission. Riebero 9 out of 10 by submission in the absolutes

In the blue belts Kron Gracie , Royler butt dragging Gracies kid, sumbitted everyone and took the gold.

He then got his brown belt. I think some instructors like to hold their students back so when they compete, they spank the opponents, and the school looks that much better. We had a Judo black belt compete with the white belts, that isnt really fair even though he was only a white in BJJ, he TOSSED people around and even got some submissions. This wasnt in the worlds though

Roger and Xande are always playing each other in the finals Always show us some nice matches.

Btw Kron Gracie was a purple belt and I think he's Ricksons son since it says "As the last fight ended with a choke, uncle Royler (with his brother Rickson's approval) threw a brown belt on the mat and referee Muzio de Angelis tied it onto the new World Champion's waist in well deserved fashion".

I like the way they gave him his belt. It would sure feel good to earn your belt that way.

Not an uncommon way of promoting guys. Often after a tourney a instructor will promote his student. If not, maybe at the next class or seminar

How would Hughes and Fedor do in one of these competitions?

I know it's usual after tournaments, but getting it while getting the gold at the same time would be nice.

They would get choked out in the first match. These matches they are wearing GIs, those guys dont have the years on end training while in the GI, they would choked and get choked fast, guaranteed.
I would like to see Hughes, Couture, Lindland, guys like that, in the ADCC, see if they could pick up their game like Monson has

Fedor has done years and years of Sambo(though there's no chokes allowed), he's still used to the Gi. I think if these BJJ Gi "fights" started on the feet(hope they would, before dropping to the butt scoot position), he would control his opponent into a side control position, that is, after tossing them on their heads. Then, he would most likely finish(with a choke or armlock) from a side mount position. And if he couldnt do all that, he probably wouldnt get choked out any matches, unless it was in the finals. Though he cant throw bombs when he's on the ground, his overall grappling is elite(Gi or not). Minotauro couldnt do shit to him while in guard.(And it wasnt because of Fedor's GnP, for the most part...)

Although Fedors got the experience & is used to the gi, that's different to training gi only. I'd have to give the edge to whoever trains in the gi every day, not to someone who's now focussed on no gi. Don't get me wrong - I know there are plenty of guys who successfully do both, but if you're not used to defending gi chokes (like Fedor) you're gonna get choked IMHO.

Fedor has done several years of Judo as well.....I dont think he'd let anyone even get position so that they could choke him....Unless there's Gi chokes that you can use when youre being mounted or when youre pinned in side control.

Besides, Fedor can throw someone to the mat very hard...

You have to be a black belt at defending GI chokes, as well as giving them, he couldnt defend that well in World BJJ tournament in Brazil. He'd get choked fast. IF jacare and Roger and Ribeiro are choking out the top BJJ black belts in the world, rest assured a guy who is a big Judo guy (who is an awesome MMA guy dont get me wrong) they would own REAL fast

Whatever........In ADCC, any one would get sloshed trying to grapple with him. But he doesnt compete in those tournements cause he devotes all his training to mixed martial arts and not any other sport, especially if its so one dimentional, like sport BJJ w/ Gi. Im not trying to bash sport BJJ or anything though.

Please elaborate on this. He would "slosh" his opponents in the worlds greatest grappling challenge? Yep, he would probably toss Monson around like a rag doll lol oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook

"Slosh" meaning he would beat(or even dominate) all his opponents. And he would most likely defeat Monson but it'd be a pretty even match.

Number 1 dude Sambo and BJJ are nothing alike......Different type of gi....its short sleeves alot of the time, recently ive seen alot more long sleeve's but anyway they dont wear gi pants.Rules are totally different....throws count for more points as dose pinning gets alot of points.Totally different style of groundfighting.....Sambo focuses more on leg locks and throws then chokes and armlocks which bjj is known for....also the guard is utalized alot more in bjj then in sambo.Fedor would do great in abu dhabi but would def lose alot...in gi bjj he doesnt stand a chance.Guys you think are great in mma subs are totally different in abu dhabi...like rico and barnett bolth submitted nog.Kerr also submited barnett many years ago with a kimura.Just like being agreat striker in mma doesnt always mean your a great striker in k-1...look at alistair overeem and gary goodridge for examples.

                              Pretty much sums it up.^^^^^^
& sambo LACKS many many many submissions that BJJ does, for exaple, the triangle, a sambo guy wouldnt even know what that was. How would he do in Abu Dhabi not knowing a triangle? Yep pretty good lol
