      After the heady of the first UFC's (remember "Bloodsport"?) it's all become SO formulaic:

      1) Nobody trains to lose, so everybody trains a wrestling-submission-muay thai-boxing mix;

      2) Guard is useless against the fence. Just drag them there and start the ground and pound;

      3) The irony is that it's gonna be up to the standup fighters to bring back some flash to the UFC, that is, something different from the taekdown + ground & pound formula.

        i agree mostly with #2 except u missed dean listers last fight.
        #3 i agree, the fence which was once just a ring like thing, is now a weapon for ground and pounders that lack submission skills, may as well hold someone down and pound them then learn to submit them, especially since the rounds are ONLY 5 MINUTES, ridiculous. Personally Id like to see 2 great fighters with no time limits, like it used to be

          Only in our dreams man, the UFC would never allow it, neither would Pride...

            Funny how people say that Royce Gracie was trained in Muay Thai before fighting Matt Hughes. Anyone that watched the fight saw that Gracie was a disgrace to Muay Thai or any other striking art. He didn't even kick like a MT fighter and his kicks have no power.

              thats because he "trained" in Muay Thai, and isn't a Muay Thai "fighter". I clearly seen in the pre fight videos before the fight ever happened that he was training some Muay Thai. Almost his whole pre fight video was showcasing his standup Muay Thai type training if I remember correctly.

                No, I am not saying people were wrong. I know he was trained in Muay Thai before the fight for real. But I am just saying he didn't resemble any Muay Thai fighter by any stretch of the imagination.

                  nor was he trying to, but then again, he didnt look like a BJJ fighter either, he looked like a white belt in his first match being in with the champion
