  • my first post! well, close

Well I have looked around the forums here a little bit for the past few months, but I finaly registered and I want to get a good judgement of the types of styles and the views of the readers/posters of this forum.

I myself teach taekwondo, but I also train in sambo and plan on going to China to train kung fu in a few months(oh, if anyone has any usefull info or wants to talk with me about this, MORE than welcome).

I personaly like the traditional and the sport aspect of martial arts more than learning martial arts as a form of self defense, because honestly in modern times there is little use for self defense, as chances are you will either wind up in the hospital or jail if you go around looking for fights.

I imagine things like this have been gone over time and time again, but I would like to get an idea for myself.

I think this is a great point.

Clearly there are massive reasons for learning a martial art for self-defence but 'generally' speaking the greatest benefits of studying martials arts lie in personal development.
