I've seen a couple fights he took to the ground earlier in his career, and he mainly worked g&p. Besides that there are videos of his D-1 wrestling career, which is far more significant than Titos community college wrestling career.

Quinton Jackson was farrrrrrr stronger, and I think hes a bigger dude is he not? Anyways, I didn't say Chuck was the best, just that he was good and that he would beat TITO on the ground.

I don't even think Tito's GnP is very good. All he does is throw elbows, if he fought in Pride his GnP would almost be zero.

Tito should beat him this time, last time I think Chuck got lucky. Besides many say Chuck is a real asshole and in need of good beating and lesson in humilty. Tito is very knowledgable as you saw in Ultimate Fighter TV series, and works with great guys. Anything could happen, but Chuck has real problems I think this time. No way can Chuck beat him on the ground, but he has chance standing up.

I am skeptical that Tito will be able to take or keep Chuck down, considering that some of the best grapplers in the UFC -- Randy Couture, Jeremy Horn and Babalu Sobral -- have all be unable to do so in Chuck's last few fights. Of course, you can argue that each of Chuck's last few opponents had serious flaws in his fight strategy or execution:
          • Randy apparently wanted to duke it out with Chuck in their second and third fights (I have never understood why Randy didn't seem to even try shooting in and GNPing Chuck as in their first fight).
          • Jeremy Horn either wasn't aggressive enough or didn't see many openings to shoot in on Chuck.
          • Babalu didn't seem to have any strategy at all: as I recall he simply charged in and tried to mix it up with Chuck, which didn't work out well for Babalu. It may be that Babalu was trying too hard to avoid the fate of Jeremy Horn (being too passive, trying to avoid getting knocked out on his feet, and losing a decision), but even so there seemed little reason for him to be as blindly aggressive as he was.

Still, when a guy manages to avoid going to the ground in four fights against three superb grapplers, you've got to give a large part of the credit to his strengths rather than to his opponents' mistakes or weaknesses. As others have pointed out, Chuck is very difficult to shoot in on (if only because of his one-punch knockout power), very difficult to take down, and very difficult to keep down. Chuck is also far from powerless on the ground: I believe he is a BJJ purple belt with significant collegiate wrestling experience. I don't mean to come across as a Chuck-worshipper, just to explain why I really like his chances against Tito.

See I like how you put it. Very well written. I just know I am going for tito since he trains about 15-20 mins from where I live...lol. No, but really I think Tito will win if he can get it to the ground because even in guard tito has great elbows. I think it is going to be a great fight and can go anyway. Chuck has beaten everybody it seems in the UFC and is an amazing fighter. I am just going to go with tito in this one. I am hoping he has more hunger to win this fight then he did last time.

Yeah, you had to love the storms of 'bows that Tito managed to land on Mr. Shamrock in their last two fights. And how can you not give Tito major props for being such a great coach in TUF3. Chuck vs. Tito should be interesting -- I'm for Chuck but may the better man win.

What's the deal with the Wandy-Chuck fight --- any chance of that being back on?

Anyone going to see the fight live? Do they have video screens up as well to watch the action as UFC shows I have seen they look big halls and if you are stuck at the back of them with no videoscreens you might not see that well. It seems a long night as well most UFC events go for 3 hours or more.

I'm planning to go. They do have a lot of videoscreens, and you will spend a lot of time watching them even if you are near the front, as it can be really hard to see the action when fights go to the ground. To be honest, you get the best view watching on TV at home (as with many other sports). But it's hard to beat the excitement of being there, especially for a Chuck fight in Vegas (crowd gets deafeningly loud for him -- you can't appreciate the noise level from the PPV broadcasts).

The events do tend to run 4-5 hours from when the doors open, but you will not be bored because there are always lots of undercard fights not shown on the PPV. You will spend the intervals between the fights (and probably some portions of the fights themselves) waiting in the interminable lines for beer, programs, shirts, bathrooms, etc.

What's particularly good about Vegas is that the events generally run from about 5 to 9-10. So you can spend the afternoon by the pool, show up around 5 for the early fights, and still have pretty much the whole night free for a good dinner, gambling, drinking, carousing, and whatever else you want to stay in Vegas.

Significant?? He's a D-1 college wrestler. Remeber, I'm primarily a grappler who's favorite fighter is Couture... Chuck is far from my favorite fighter. I just understand that not only is his standup far better than Tito's but so is his ground game/standup grappling game. He's just a better fighter. Remeber, Tito's a community college state champ. Forget same league, their wrestling backgrounds aren't even in the same continents.
