Mixed Martial Arts, One of the oldest forms of fighting.
Tito, others have done in self-defense situations, we could look at things objectively. We could make, in your own words, a comparison.
Tito along with Lee Murray HAVE had sd situations arise since their fame...It seems BOTH of 'em needed help from bystanders. Tito got up like an MMA clown and was kicked in the face for it...so much for MMA training kicking in during a real fight...hence the old saying, train like you want to fight because under stress you will fight like you train... Tito's ring HABITS got his ass kicked.
the problem really is that boarspear and uke are just such huge mma fans. watching mma all day long has made them both extremely insecure about themselves and their own training, despite being such big fans of the sport. its obvious.
im not even trying to be funny or anything like that, but this really is the problem isnt it?? i dont know why else these two would act this way.

Could you be any more ignorant? I dont watch ANY sports, your little grabbass infatuation included. The last MMA match I watched was a Gracie being humiliated, I guess that doesn't narrow it down much huh?
Trust me junior the LAST fear I have is some MMA moron giving me trouble in a streetfight...God I only hope all my opponents are so unprepared for a no rules altercation. Please lord let some dickhead try to suplex me in a knife fight.
Uke and Boar are hardcore PRIDE nuthuggers and the only fighter they like in the UFC is BJ Penn.
Dude the only Pride fight I ever saw also included a Gracie being humiliated...as for BJ Penn...I have ZIP idea who he is, nor do I give a fuk...I also dont keep up with the Current WWE employee's nor can I name 3 active athletes in ANY sport, because they have ZERO relevance to the real world. But I'm sure you waste many valuable training hours studying your sports idols.

looks like i hit the nail right on the head. truth hurts dont it boarspear?
whats funnier than you trying to act all tough is that you and uke for some reason believe people who train in mma and sport styles of martial arts are going to adhere to competition rules in a street confrontation.
i train at a mma gym, and let me tell you, i know of more than a few competitive kickboxers/ mma guys who carry blades with them outside the gym. but hey, go ahead and keep generalizing entire groups of people in your weak attempt at trying to cover up the fact that your love for mma has made you question your own training.
But I'm sure you waste many valuable training hours studying your sports idols.
Actually i get plenty of training time in. I just came back from an optional wrestling practice at a college university(4-6 pm) this evening. I do situps, stretches, and tony little's Gazelle every morning on saturday and sunday. I wrestle in big varsity tournements(2 day tournements) every weekend for the past 5 weeks and i do pretty well. On top of that, ive had atleast one match for the highschool per week ever since the season started, and practice 4 school days per week, and lifting in the weight room 5 days per week. Im on a training/competing spree.
What's wrong with using MMA training techniques in order to teach SD?? I would have thought testing your SD techniques under pressure and resistance would be quite beneficial and you can include most of the "dirty stuff".
i train at a well respected MMA gym, but my training is pretty much all self defense oriented. id like to share my reasons for choosing an mma gym for my martial arts training.
first off, before i joined the place i train at, i read many books and articles about martial arts and various styles.i really studied martial arts before actually starting training in them. and from this i concluded that what i wanted to learn for empty handed self defense is muay thai because it develops powerful standup striking skills and the training is hard and vigorous, and some grappling art like bjj/submission wrestling so i can learn joint locks and escapes from bad positions. i figured between muay thai/ and bjj/submission wrestling, id have empty handed self defense covered. you got to start somewere, you cant learn everything and every range at once.
next, i visited many schools and talked to quite a few instructors. and inmop, the mma school was my best option because it allowed me to train in multiple disciplines under one roof from individual specialists.
now, i dont have any knife training, but i always carry a pocket knife with me self defense. for i may not train in a weapons art, but i do carry a blade and sometimes a steel kabuton and will use it to defend myself if i can. id love to one day learn fma, but its not currently available in my area. so ill keep working on my mt and grappling for now.
another thing i would like to draw attention to is that even though i train at a mma gym, our instructors always give us "self defense" tips and training as well. i dont understand why you assume we dont care about sd. for example, my bjj instructor will show us how to properly take somenes back and attempt a choke, but he will mention that in a real situation would just use your superior position to elbow the back of your opponents neck to sofent him up for the choke. or for example, when you use butterfly guard to push your opponent back and make room for you to stand up and get to your feet, you can knee his face instead of just disengaging or engaging again.
theres a golden gloves boxer who works as a bouncer and carries a blade. his hand speed, footwork, plus a blade is going to be pretty nasty if you ask me.
if you feel that people who train in mma/sport arts dont train in sd or dont care about it you are greatly mistaken.
btw, not all confrontations and sd situations will require lethal force or a weapon. you need to know how to handle yourself without a weapon, you cant always stab or kill someone unless you want to go to jail and hang out with tossed salad man for the rest of your days.
