Hmm Really good points, I think Telling the teacher would be the right thing and in a perfect world It would make them stop annoying him but sadly we dont live in a perfect world, If he had done that they wouldve just verbally annoyed him for quite a while, and as I think Tom Yum said before, come after him outside of school hours which Id say is more dangerous than inside school hours, at least now the bully hasnt got much to hassle him about, and everyone else will think twice before bullying the kid again. I say good on the kid.

Mephariel: Yeah, and it also gets you a suspension. Imagine doing that in the work place someday. You get fired. Tell the teacher and be done with it.

Id rather stand up for myself and get suspended than tell a teacher and get annoyed for a long time after by him and his friends.
Im not saying that going to the teacher is a bad and wrong choice, Im pretty sure if he knew telling the teacher would make them stop he wouldve done it, but In my opinion telling the teacher only slows down the problem and in the end makes it worse.
And I hope by the time they are in the workplace their a bit more mature about things lol, but I cant comment on the workplace one cause Ive never been in such a situation. (Im still In school).

I am not going to judge this kid because maybe he told the teacher and they didn't do anything. But you should always take the non-violent way out. If that doesn't work, then do something.
A workplace is nothing like a highschool environment.

Public high school, as I remember it, was something akin to a public correctional facility...

please, public school is a breeze compared to catholic school, those are the true penitentiaries. they make you all wear a uniform and if you didnt tuck it in the dean would come and try to tuck it in for you. then they force you to go to church and try to tell you when to sit and stand and kneel. then if you got in trouble your detentions would consist of having to do hard manual labor with the 2 janitors after school. i missed class almost daily during my senior year because the dean would always try to get me in trouble for having a little bit of stubble on my face. when he would try to make me shave with an already used razor that had other peoples hair on it, i would refuse and have to sit in the office all day long and miss class until my parents came and picked me up when school got out.

I see what you mean...you're talking about institutionalism.

I'm talking about guys who will jump you for looking at them the wrong way, gang fights (either 10 on 7 or like 6 on 2) every other day, an occasional drive by and just alot of bad attitude and/or lack of thinking...

I'm not complainin'; I'm just sayin'.

maybe if you went to school in south central LA or something, but most public schools are way better than private ones.

Nope. I went to HS far away from SC LA.

That makes no sense at all.
