  • BJJ in queens new york?

ANyone know of a place other than progressive martial arts/combined martial arts, cause those don't have bjj for 14 year olds.

btw has anyone heard of lotus bjj?

Isn't one of Matt Serra's BJJ school fairly close by? If you're willing to drive that is.

Matt Serra's East Meadow school is about 25 minutes from the Queens/Nassau border on a great traveling day.

I guess that's a bit of a stretch for someone I presume live near Forest Hills.

If you're willing to go on a relatively short subway trip(~40min), there's always the Renzo Gracie school in Manhattan...
And I took the train when I was 12, you/your kid will be fine.

It's cool I can take the train, after all I'll be going to school in the bronx next year, but renzos place is a tad expensive though I'd love to train there..

If Matt Serra's school is closeby, heck it out. I'm sure it will be cheaper than Renzo's.

Interesting...I didn't know Renzo's school was offering Muay Thai as well. Seems a lot of BJJ/MT schools these days are pulling in the other art to round themselves out.

i've been training at renzo's place for 2 months now, it's fun but a good 20-30 minutes trip for me. it costs 190, but there are 4-5 classes at different times of the day so it's pretty flexible.

they also offer muay thai for an additional 100, and capoeria (sp?) - but i'm not sure about the price on that.

THAT OPINION IS RELEVANT TO WHERE YOU ARE LOCATED IN QUEENS AND YOUR MODE OF TRAVEL.

                              hello,

perhaps we should stick to the point? a 14 year old has asked advice on selecting a school in the area.

mattserra academy will be too far for you. adults might be willing. it is too far for YOU. no matter don't worry about it.

renzogracie is a bit expensive, but worth it. everybody say it together........
                              WOOOOOOOORRRRRRTH IIIIIIIIIIT.

renzogracie has a great deal of experience training those of all ages. it is an academy you will be able to stick with, and no matter your goal (fitness, fighter, defense, lookin prittee) renzogracie academy can get you there.

combat sambo center is in brooklyn. it is run by davidrudman. many children and teens as well. davidrudman has been coaching for umpteen million years now and is one of the best ever. granted, not bjj. think of cambo as jiujitsu with mma and judo built right in. kids and teen really seem to dig it.

on west 39th is a place called american combat sambo run by stephenkoepfer. the man is a sorcerer. not sure his schedule but there is a website.

marcossantos runs a place called blitz center. black belt jiujitsu instructor under riganmachado. new location (relatively) and not sure schedule. check them out.

tell you right now, the cambo schools (davidrudman in particular) will be a bit cheaper. instruction is TOP notch at all these places (despite thier differences, with time, you will learn the same stuff at all of them). check them out and let us know how it turns out.

                              thanks.
