  • K-1 Dynamite Royce vs Sakuraba

    Anyone watch it?
I was looking forward to the brock lesnar fight but damn it was way easier than i thought.
Royce vs sakuraba was pretty boring. I thought Royce wouldn't stall so much since his boxing looked good in one of the pre-fight videos but damn the guy has it in his blood.

Nothing happend in R1 pretty much, nothing spectacular at least... R2 was the same cept Sakuraba could have done some more damage when he caught in a clinch. R3 Royce starts with a sub attempt then it goes back to boring mode..... Royce is standing while hugging Sakuraba from behind for lots of time without attempting anything really useful I'm glad the ref stopped that... I thought sak should have taken the win just because he actually did something useful in the whole 15 minutes, give Royce about 2 knees which connected but that's about it.

First match was twice as good even though it was 10 times longer! As much as I love watching Sak fight, I think he should just quit when he can't keep up with the times.. His performance wasn't as active as it used to be.. And well Royce should have quit after his 4th ufc win

I only watched these 2 fights, I doubt i'll watch the rest unless someone reccomends specifics.

My fingers are to sore to write anything much at the moment, so I'm just gonna copy and paste what I said on another site.

I loved the fight, Royce should how much more he improved since they last went at it

When Saku knocked Royce down we didn't many chop kicks from Saku, it was Royce kicking Saku this time from his back. It might not have done alot of damage but still..

When they were standing up Royce was doing damage with leg kicks, Saku's right leg was bruising up pretty bad toward the end of the second round and the start of the third...

When they clinched Royce was staying more active be kneeing Saku's leg over and over again.. Toward the end of the third round Saku just seemed to lay on the turnbuckle and not doing anything while Royce was still working

It wasn't boring it was very technical. Royce didn't lay a merciless ass beating on Saku by any means, but the way I judged it I gave the first round to Saku but rounds two and three to Royce...

eh......that fight was pretty weak.....royce looked pretty pathetic just laying there on the ground, afriad to stand up.

his striking hasnt improved one bit either.

Are you kidding me? Royce looked evil in that fight.

His blows looked like they might have been far more effective than those knees Shamrock gave Renzo.

Also, it looked like Royce was doing the exact opposite of what Renzo did agains t Sakuraba when he was on the ground.

Looked like Royce just bounced off of Sakuraba's awesomeness in round 1, then he didn't like how those kicks to his legs felt so he kept dodging them.

Round 2 had Sakuraba pushing Royce off of him, telling him to get the **** off of him.

They were just pretty well evenly matched.

I'm all for technical fights when it comes to grappling. But in MMA, people shouldn't stall so much. This wasn't an even match, Sakuraba was washed up and Royce hardly did any damage even when he had the advantage. Besides who compared this to shamrock vs renzo?

                  I did.

I think it's rather shallow to say that Sakuraba is washed up. He's still a great fighter, he's only sustained injuries against guys bigger than him.

Neither of the guys are terrible. They've both had a lot of incredible fights, and it's rather facetious to claim that the fight was terrible because there wasn't a lot of action.

Evenly matched opponents tend not to have a lot of action, and that's all it was.

I dunno man, Sakuraba's leg was banged up pretty bad toward the end of the fight..

And I saw very little stalling in the fight, if anyone was stalling it was Sakuraba... He got ahold of Royce's arm and just held on to it for two, three minutes at a time while Royce was still being very active by kneeing Sakuraba already bruised up leg.....

I think Royce looked good in the fight.. And everyone I watched the fight with agreed with me, I don't understand how you can say this wasn't even a match... I hope you didn't watch the fight expecting a quick KO or the two guys just throwing wild punches at each other.. Royce and Sakuraba are probably the to most technical fighters in the biz today, if a fight like that doesn't float your boat then just don't watch them fight again

That's the problem with having so many fans who are growing up on the Ultimate Fighter.I was young, but I can still remember watching the first UFC back in 1993.When it realy was a "new" sport.Albeit a bloodsport then but nonetheless it was good for those days too.I can't help but to think last nights K1 was for the true fans of MMA....The hardcore elite...It wasn't the best show ever and the presentation could have been alot better....However,watching Royce fight Sakuraba again gave me chills...It made me realize how much the sport has evolved in a mere 7 years..For the better and the worst

Oh trust me, I've started watching ufc from ufc 1, not the year itself but the first mma show i saw was ufc 1, royce got me into the whole mma/bjj deal. I used to watch his vids like crazy. But seeing how he was holding onto saks back for over a minute without doing anything, it seemed like stalling, especially for a bjj guy, the most basic takedowns from the back could have been done and could have easily gained him side mount at the least. Maybe im exaggerating but I'm used to a better performance from Sakuraba, and more groundwork by Royce, his standup has improved u can see that from the post fight workouts, but I still think he could have made it much more entertaining.

                          Lesnar obliterated his opponent.

Did anyone catch the Fedor versus God fight? I really wanted to see that one.

If you mean Fedor vs Lindland, I watched it.
                              Spoilers:

Was fucking amazing, fedor got cut really fast his face was so bloody in like 10 seconds. But a cut like that won't stop fedor, oh he needs much more. nice armbar at the end, waits for the right second then starts taking the arm.
