  • Mr. Liddell's loss

I was saddened by Chuck Liddell's loss. I think Liddell is a great guy and an all-time great fighter, but he has his nemesis in Quinton Jackson.
Roy Jones was arguably the greatest boxer of all time at one point, until his invincibility
was shattered by Antonio Tarver. Here's hoping that Chuck will find a way to improve, then beat Vandy, quinton, and gear up for a good fight with Fedor.

I love knockouts, but I would rather see submissions. Shogun Rua and Big Nog
may well submit their ways to UFC dominance. Big Nog, especially, is like Royce Gracie at 230.

Nog isn't like Royce, he's 10 times better, whether its striking or jiu jitsu. Lidell sucks.

There's a difference IMO between what Liddell has done and what Roy Jones has done.

Despite Roy Jones recent losses, he still is a candidate for greatest boxer of all time. He just didn't know when to quite. Its not just Tarver either as Jones has lost to everyone he's faced since his first loss. Since Tarver and Johnson have beaten Jones they haven't been able to do a thing between them except fight each other.

Chuck Liddell however, had won many matches in impressive fashion since his first loss to Rampage Jackson. He in no way seemed like he had gotten old over night like Jones did. He still continues to do what he's been doing despite losing to Jackson. I suspect that Liddell will continue to dominate despite this most recent loss.

Having one loss doesn't disqualify you from being an all time great or even the greatest if all time. That would mean that the man who is widely regarded as the greatest boxer of all time, Sugar Ray Robinson would not be hailed as such as he has several losses. Ali had several losses. Tyson has several losses but is still recognized as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.

You have to go by what they did at their best and by what did they do when they were primed and ready. If you let the end of a fighter's career define the totality of his accomplishments then no one will ever be great unless they are undefeated. With as many padded records that there are, that wouldn't represent greatness either.

Liddell will be back. Rampage just has his number. Stop acting as though this is the end of an era. Liddell, unless he retires, will go on to win other matches and conquer other challenges. Your disappointment doesn't mean his career is over.

I dont think he'll get a third match with Rampage and certainly wont fight Fedor but if he did he'd get schooled. Liddell is almost done IMO. Now, the guys that fight him wont be intimidated by his striking. And he's getting old.

Jones will never be candidate for best boxer ever. He is however, in the top 10-15 of all time. Ray Robinson(as you said) is the best ever. By far.
