where are these glorious street fighters people keep mentioning...okay tito got snuffed by some punk at a bar, but i dont really follow the ufc fighters anymore, they are definetly not worth watching(lack in technique) and what i know about tito is that he only did some college wrestling and probally took on some striking skills later in his life,he probally was drunk when he go punched.
Anyways if these street fighters were so good one on one fighting why dont they join pride or ufc?? its probally because they dont want to make money

Boar spear what martial art is it you practice that you easily beat BJJ? If its street fighting and throwing haymakers maybe i should go back to that since its very effective better yet i think all mma fighters should go back to haymakers and sloppy takedowns to make drunken rednecks happy

oh yeh by the way did you guys read or watch on tv about the ex soldier who got in a fight in a parking lot in mcdonalds with this 6'4' 270 pd(which was the agressor) giant? i saw a footage of the soldier getting owned in the beggining( he got body slammed twice and punched a few times) but he later applied the guillotine choke(bjj) he learned in the army and killed the guy. Sad news but this clearly proves that choke holds do work in one on one fights

what dumass would try to submission sumone if they got more then one friend if ur tryin to fight more then one person that shit aint going to work, and the reason most really realy good martial artis dont join the ufc and pride and all that is because its not what they learn it for its for self defence.

You know, MAYBE you're right.... SOME OF US EVEN TRAINED IT before we ever heard of the Brazilian version or the legendary Gracie family...

          IT's CALLED JUDO!!

I went to the BJJ academy to see for myself what this "new" "killer" art was all about. Turns out I knew the Judo names for the techniques already...

          It's just a sport....

Perhaps because they understand that fighting is done for survival as opposed to fighting for fun and profit...also if it has rules, refs , fans and tv cameras it is a sport....not everyone in america is a sport fan....

once more for the slow people...the only thing that makes bjj people "easy" to beat....YOUR WORD is thier brainwashing....Yes ground fighting is a great TOOL...thats ALL, it is just like striking and throwing...they are tools...it seems gjj/bjj people are like marines right out of boot camp....very much impressed with themselves... sure helio did a fine job of adapting JUDO (from JAPAN) to the threats that they faced in Brazil.....these were further refined by dealing with VT in BRAZIL...most of the refinements to BJJ since it arrived in the US are for the ring...If you have not studied either jujutsu or judo then by all means learn the new varaition that the gracies "invented". just because the average joe was lacking ground skills doesnt mean everyone is lacking them, some of us started training judo as kids just like the gracies started gjj as kids...only we were not being brainwashed into believing we had a unique family style so we studied other skills as well...wrestling...throwing...striking...
its amazing how one tool is suddenly superior to all others for all situations thats called brainwashing or buying your own bullshit... BTW the only real problem i have with the art is its practicioners...you know the cauliflower eared....or dumbo earred if you prefer..."my art rules the martial art world" know-it-alls....you must realize that gjj/bjj are new takes on old arts...so you running around as the least humble most obnoxious martial artists just makes you look and sound immature and inexperienced...now note i said like a marine fresh out of boot...usually onced blooded marines wake up...whats your excuse? no blood on the gi? or is your last name gracie? LOL!

lmao your the one who is always making remarks about Gjj/ Bjj, and now we practitioners are immature and inexperienced. If i practice the art you wouldnt think i know the foundation of it? of course it came from japan no one is questioning that..what doesent seem to fit your hard head is that the gracies adjusted it to their own way..every one has a right of choice if you like it practice it and believe in your art, confidence is one of the things all martial arts are suppose to teach one...and i will always believe Gjj is better than any other art cuz thats the one i choose to learn(mainly) like it or not

Never once have i said ANY art was superior to ALL others ( probably because i have been the martial arts long enough to realize its the MAN in the art not the art he practices)......but i see bjj people claim it all the time....so sure i rag on em about it but its all in fun...i have never seen a marine run out and join the army because he got teased and i dont expect you to take up a different art .... relax and smoke a fattie you know roll a couple before you roll? i studied gjj at functional fighting concepts in Va beach, have you studied the arts youre so sure DON'T work? and i have said in numerous posts that groundfighting has its place its just not MY personal favorite for dealing with multiple guys bigger than me, which is not uncommon for bouncers to face daily at work. for example when the tampa bay bucs come in your titty bar as a group you are not the biggest or most roided out one in the room and you ARE outnumbered so i like the idea of maintaining mobility when i am forced to fight ...... now if you wanna pop in and explain to how a bjj guy is gonna make 3 or 4 350 lb pro ball players back up im listening...because they have great respect for low line nerve destructions and mt kicks to thier legs...you can back them up if you outmove em, but if one gets you down, (or you have the brilliant idea to take one down) they all pile on. (BTW that can suck) so while i have no doubt bjj is great in some enviroments, in others its suicide, thats why training more than one art is intelligent...No matter how "superior to all others" the ONE art you practice may.... or may not be.

Very alive and very fun...people seem to be inspired to new levels of deviousness and everyones more focused.
it also helps coordination using live blades as roach clips
