  • Kimbo vs. Mercer

    Enjoy.

Kimbo fought smarter. He ate a few of Mercers straights in the beginning; he knew that distance = danger against a former heavyweight boxing champ. Great job on working the clinch knees and takedown from Kimbo. Good job on Mercer for getting the reversal.

    Kimbo wins via guillotine submission.

Kimbo throwing Thai knees and pulling guard...that's just scary.

kimbo destroyed that guy. he is going to rip through mma. he has improved 10x since we last saw him, he looked ready. he scored a takedown, utilized the guard and clinch, and even finished with a guillotine, something unheard of for kimbo whos crew used to jump in and stop his fights once any grappling or clinching started to take place. as i said, theres nobody better to train under than bas, and it shows.

It had to be the beard. Ray Mercer was just astounded by Kimbo's beard.

Kimbo pretty much dominated him. That guy's a beast.

Not taking anything away from Kimbo because I really do love to watch the guy fight. I have always said that he is one bad s.o.b. and if he would find a good trainer to learn some ground skills and some muay thai then he would be very scary to watch in the Octagon. With that being said...

Ray Mercer is not exactly in his prime. While he was a good boxer when he was younger and had the ability to throw and land some really big punches he is far from being the caliber of fighter that Kimbo needs to test him. Mercer is a one dimensional fighter and thats it.

I would really like to see the Tank Abbott vs Kimbo Slice fight take place. I think if Tank would actually get in shape and train hard for the fight that it might make a good fight. I only say this because Tank has some really heavy hands.

I think who ever Kimbo faces has there work cut out for them. What Kimbo lacks in skill he makes up for with his will to win and his tough chin and a few other things.

I said nothing about Bas Rutten. Bas is great. At the time that I posted my previous comment I was not aware that Bas Rutten was the one training Kimbo.

Since finding that out I am excited to see what kind of fighter Bas can turn him into. Also, I do not think that Kimbo is a talentless bum. I think he has done whatever he has had to in order to make money fighting. Now that he has gotten a reputation on the internet he has teamed up with one of the best MMA Trainers out there. If was talentless I do not think Bas Rutten would be training him. So in my opinion there is something there.

Don't knock someone just because they do not fit your MMA fighter mold.

Kimbo has always had good hands...he has a whole host of natural attributes that enable him to have the potential to be an exceptional fighter...he has experience...

AND now...he has formal muay thai and grappling training under BAS "el guapo" fucking RUTTEN. He stepped into the Octagon and he fought a good match. He even threw Thai knees in perfect form, better than I've seen from any of those TUF guys... he escaped a choke, and he ended it with a submission.

Say what you will about Kimbo...he's coming up in the world...and he certainly isn't a talentless bum.

I hate it when they do this...it seems like their just trying to jazz it up. MMA is not pro-wrestling...

I would, however, like to see them fight it out in the parking lot like Tank wanted...that could be...very messy for both of them.

wow, i must say i'm a bit ashamed of my previous opinion of kimbo. the rounding out of his game he's done shows great dedication, and it looks like the shabby line up of guys he fought in the older videos was more a result of lack of challengers than any design of his. i wish him a long, successful career in this new, respectable vein.
