"Then, you claim Kimo was a read TKD fighter, he admitted that the UFC gave him false credentials to put him in the fight. He never trained in TKD at all."

Kimo Leopoldo's original teacher, Joe Son, holds blackbelts in both Tae Kwon Do and Judo. He has molded these styles into his own style, Joe Son Do. Kimo utilized the stand-up striking skills he acquired in the Tae Kwon Do training and combined them with the ground skills he acquired in the Judo training to give Royce Gracie the toughest fight he had ever had up to that time.
The reason Kimo listed himself as a Tae Kwon Do practicioner is because he wanted to list a recognizable martial art as his discipline. Kimo Leopoldo was in fact the first cross-trained martial artist to ever compete in MMA. He was a Joe Son Do blackbelt, which meant that he was an expert at stand-up fighting(Tae Kwon Do) as well as ground fighting(Judo). When other fighters witnessed the effectiveness of cross-training, a revolution was in the making. Joe Son, the father of martial arts cross-training, was a true visionary. The sport of MMA owes him a debt of incomparable magnitude. The product of his life's work, Kimo the Hawaiin Fighting Legend, was the first true Mixed Martial Artist.

shimora... read my post in its entirety ...smith was taken down by coleman first... right...coleman failed to capitalize on it THEN smith kicked him in the head...smith has many years of grappling training ...ITS NOT THAT STRIKING IS INEFFICIENT ... its awesome ...grapplers should not get tunnel vision ...but the topic of this post is about a tkd guy not thinking he can be taken down ...not a complete fighter like maurice smith...

Maurice Smith isn't a complete fighter, he is very one dimensional. He kicked Silveira in the head (actually neck), not Coleman.

Smith did not have years of grappling training. He had 18 months of training with Frank Shamrock who is hardly a master grappler himself.
The only reason Smith learnt basic grappling was so he could defend himself from the guard until the other fighter tired himself out. Then Smith got back up and used Pure TKD to defeat his opponents. Any 12 year old TKD student knows how to kick like Mo Smith did in Extreme Fighting and the UFC.

Just admit it guys. TKD is a damn tough style.

                Bull S H I T,

He connected with his shin to Conan's head not his foot like TKD guys. That was a high Thai Round kick if I ever saw one. It was his Thai skills that finished that fight but it was his grappling defence that got him there. If not for his guard he would have been finished in the first couple of minutes.

Come on let this goooooooo we all know that martial arts are really all a big scam and that its all worthless crap, especially TKD and as TKD guy who trains 4 days a week I cry myself to sleep every night when I think of how weak I kick and how I can't punch and how I could never kick someone in the head and how my style sucks because its not the REAL korean TKD, if ONLY I studied something cool and EFFECTIVE!!! WOW That would be exciting, but thats a lot of work, maybe I will just start carrying a louisville slugger with me at all times, sure I may take a few hits before I get to swing it but too bad for the other guy when I finally do.

                  Yeeee haw!

                      THE FIGHTERS, NOT THE STYLES

It is my belief that the fighters, not the styles, are the determining factor in any confrontation. I don't think that any one style is better than any other, but they all do something well, or else no one would practice them. The fighter who uses his/her style, or strategy and attributes, the most effectively will win the fight, regaurdless of how many TKD UFC wins there have been or how many Gracies have beaten everyone there is to know. No dis to TKD or the Gracies intended.

That's an interesting theory and hypothesis you have there. Tell me, why do you discount what MMA has shown us, and what observations and examples do you have to back your theory up.
