Do you know who teaches at that location and what their prices run? I know there are several people here on the boards that live within commuting distance, and it may be worth posting the information. I also have some friends near Quantico that I'll refer your way.

Oh, and welcome to the boards.
What's up Mike! Classes at the Springfield location are typically taught by Fernando Yamasaki and Francisco Neto. Both hold black belts in both Judo and BJJ. I am sometimes called on to teach as well as are some of the other brown belts that regularly attend. The facility at Springfield is really nice, you should check it out. Classes are Mon-Fri 7:00pm - 8:30pm and Saturday 2:00pm - 3:30pm.

The Quantico people are perfect, we have a ton of guys in Springfield that make that drive now that would probably be better coming to Woodbridge as well. Might be the same group of guys!

The issue has more to do with the fact that Yamasaki Academy is partnered with a Karate school for that location, Kim's Karate. The location is excellent, but the management at Kim's is pretty strict about stopping people coming in and getting payment from them. Yamasaki Academy itself is pretty lenient with "mat fees" but we can't really do much about Kim's Karate policies.

If you want to let me know when you're going to come I will try to make it up there and let them know you're with me.

Hey Mike, I know we live in a country full of "springfields" especially in the midwest area.. but which Springfield? I'm in St. Louis MO (you probably noticed..) Are you in a Springfield near the Midwest? I'd come see you, you could teach me a lesson for being a smart ass, and we'd have a beer or two and have a good time. Seriously though -

            Which Springfield?
