Scheduled for Feb 16, 2008 on showtime presented by elite XC martial arts. Who do you like in this fight and why?

Oh that is going to be an interesting fight!

I have no idea. Both hit hard. I would go with Kimbo but I'm not sure if his chin can take Tank's punches.

I think Kimbo will take it because of conditioning and superior boxing skills. Kimbo is actually a very good boxer who had (or has) real potential to be a pro contender. BUT, Tank is one of those guys who can surprise anybody on any given day--he's just so freak'n strong, tough, and mean. I have a bias for both these guys as a former boxer and powerlifter! Since I was a better powerlifter than boxer, I just might cheer for Tank--stupid logic, but hey, whatever.

I don't think that Kimbo has the experiance to handle Tank, to be honest I was never impressed with him or his fights and I think internet hype factor boosts his rep.

I mean who has he fought?

I have never seen him KO anyone they just don't "come up to scratch"

And how long has he been training MMA?

The greatest trainer won't make up for time spent really fighting.

Tank weighed in at around 290 in his last fight, but I also saw him check a leg kick, and even attempt a submission although he was so gassed it didn't have a snowballs chance in hell. Kimbo can't adapt to grappling and open striking rules that fast imho.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

He took that fight on short notice for the money.

This fight will be different I think, he is fighting for his perceived postion in MMA history as the official "Streetfighting" man. And from what I have heard he has dropped about 40lbs and if thats true I think Kimbo better watch out.

Care to name your stakes Mike?

I bet Brock Lesner had a great training camp as well, but thats just one part of it.

Kimbo is on the way up and tank is heading down.
Kimbo will win this i think unless Tank gets in shape for it.

My prediction: Kimbo wins via submission or GNP in the 2nd.

                      How? Kimbo and Tank Trade.

                      Rd1
Kimbo seems to get the slight upperhand, but gets a taste of some real punching power from Tank. Kimbo's eye is cut, but Tank's face is showing some wear from Kimbo's power as well.

They go to the clinch, then crash into the fence. Kimbo is unable to get a good clean takedown here since he is still new to MMA and Tank has good balance and strength.

                      Rd 2.

An exhausted Tank collides into Kimbo. They go to clinch again. Kimbo fires off a few knees that smash into Tank. Tank tries to push his way out and land rabbit punches. Kimbo gets a clean takedown and finishes Tank by either submission or GNP.

Tank's also getting a bit worn out, and Kimbo is on the upswing of his fight career.
Kimbo has excellent conditioning especially now. There is no way Tank is gonna win. He's just there to collect a pay check.

I don't think Kimbo will be getting any 'clean takedowns' on anyone, especially someone that wrestled in college. Nor will he be getting any subs since he's basically a white belt at this point in time (Tank's at least a blue belt and and when was the last time you saw a blue sub'd by a white?). If Kimbo wins, it'll be by ko, ref stoppage or decision (all standing). If Tank wins it'll be by gnp.

When's the last time a belt, or the decades-old achievements of a fat and out of shape college has-been really honestly mattered?

I'm so far from being impressed by Tank's ground game, I'd honestly be willing to bet Dick Hardman could beat Tank's ass on the ground. Historically, his best move on the ground is playing percussion like he's in the studio with Santana.

Kimbo is obviously not a groundfighting phenom either, and he's always been so scared of it that he specifically negotiates it out of his bare knuckle street brawls (so much for no rules, eh?), so don't think I'm trying to make Kimbo out to be any better. All I'm saying is if it goes to the ground, it's going to be unbearably ugly and unsophisticated.

And if Tank Abbott wins with a submission hold on the ground, I'll eat a bug. It's not going to happen!
Kimbo took Mercer down and got a text-book armbar on him after being caught up in his guard.

He's gotten alot more comfortable on the ground since his fight with the amateur MMA fighter.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't mean to imply that Tank is Jean Jacques Machado or Ricco Ciapparelli or anyone like that, but he's gonna have an upper hand on Kimbo if this thing goes to the ground. Kimbo will have the edge standing and in conditioning. Early on, it's gonna be exciting as hell!
