    Thanks for the info Ravenman!

I think this Pride only proves one thing: it's impossible to predict these matches!

There are so many variables that the outcomes are truly unpredictable almost everytime.

        Wow.

I take some time off and the MMA world flips over again. Typical.

I think we have come almost full circle. Strikers with strong anti-grappling skills are really coming into their own. And yet, Telligman dominates Vovchanchin.

This is what I like about MMA these days...anyone can win. Plus, I don't have to feel guilty about all those years I spent studying striking instead of grappling.

The Goes and Gracie fights could only be considered "upsets" if you had your head in the sand. There seems to be this mind set with bjj guys that their guy will get a submission. Never mind that Coleman and Henderson have NEVER been submitted. It's just this blind faith. You might as well argue with a born again Christian about whether Christ actually walked on water.

One of the worst offenders is Hawk. You can't argue facts and logic with him.

              Americana:

What's amazing is how easily Coleman passed Goes' guard. I thought it would take him a while, and that he might have to go to decision.

If more wrestlers learn to do this, pure BJJ may no longer have a realistic chance of competing in MMA (unless some bigger guys get in there). Certainly the days of open-weight-class fighters are over. Nobody under 200 is going to beat Coleman.

                What makes you say that?

                Not that I care.

well obviously you do care so i'll spell it out for you. you implied that before strikers were winning in nhb, you felt guilty about studying striking--shotokan i believe? anyway, the fact that you have to rely on the success of other people to justify your own "striking" ability shows that you had no real confidence in it to begin with.

It did seem for a few years like grappling made all striking useless. I am glad that is no longer the case.

I am not "shotokan", but to explain the difference to you would take too long.

I am reasonably confident in my abilities. Are you?

This was the Contendors a submision grappling event years ago. Shamrock looked slick going from one leg submisions to another untill Henderson eventualy got caught.
