You can see this guys holds werent all that effective because he got slammed into a few obsticals. But obviously the other fighter was very strong and skilled and if he got a normal guy into an arm-bar it might of even got broken.

But watching it back i can see how his BJJ did help him, even if he did get slammed twice he managed to keep the other guy away from just purely pounding on his face.

Good fight though, nice to see two UFC fighters go at it without a ref.

    Enjoy.
the guy on the bottom may have hesitated too. breaking someones arm is a big deal, especially if its over some bullshit fight. it appeared as if he nearly had it, he may have just let guy cause he didnt think the fight was worth breaking someones arm over.

sometimes in just training, poeople are stubborn and wont want to top even when they are about to face a life altering injuring as a consequence. ive released quite a few techniques when it was clear that people didnt wanna tap, im not gonna break someones arm on purpose on the matt, even if its their fault for not tapping. thats just me though, most people arent as merciful as i am.

what makes me sick is how dana white yells at the guys for brining a negative image to mma, if he was really worried about that he wouldnt have shown the fight in the first place.

That was pretty funny... Reminded me of "fighting" with my brothers and cousins...

No harm no foul, eh? LOL Besides, most stuff will heal in a few weeks...

Meh, it's a TV show. He has to get his ratings. He kicked three of them off the show, so it's not like there weren't consequences. It wouldn't have made any sense if suddenly three guys just weren't on the show anymore because "something" happened, you know?

            D'oh...

            The problem with JIU-JITSU...

BJJ is great fun, don't get me wrong. You "fight" with resistance and learn lots of neat tricks for domination and control. COOL. I personally enjoyed training in BJJ for more than a year. I see it for the good JUDO that it is.

Sadly I have been in some so called "real" fights too and the problem is weapons.

If you get into trouble where there are fixtures and lose objects those things become your "terrain". The lose objects are "improvised weapons" and EVERYTHING they can throw or swing becomes a projectile or a club.

I've been bashed in the face and head by so many things I can't list them all. The close calls don't even count. God help you if they are armed with an ACTUAL weapon! It's no fun being on the business end of those. Bullets don't care what color your belt is no matter how many stripes it has on it (Helio). Knives take a bit more intent but if you're not afraid you're an idiot.

I know guys who practice deploying (concealed) blades from positions of disadvantage. They can draw off handed with three hundred pounds on top of them... just because you THINK you have the upper hand one moment doesn't mean you'll have it the next.

Play the game. It's FUN. It's relatively safe! So called "real" fights can get you killed. Don't confuse the issue with hype or attitude.

I'm not saying Judo (jiujitsu) is useless, far from it. If you can do it, DO IT but seriously consider potential realities before you go looking for trouble.

Play nice. On the "street" you could be hit by a car...
