Bushido: I agree. Gloves do hinder a strikers ability to stop the takedown and the level of skill, of the participants, is the deciding factor in the outcome of the fight.
My point is that its difficult to stop the takedown & you should be a capable fighter on the ground incase you go down. I also contend BJJ is an effective method of ground fighting. Finally, if it is hard for pro fighters to stop the fight from hitting the ground, what are the chances of the average bully, drunk etc.. ? For these reasons i say BJJ is an effective form of "street defense".
