No one can tap Sperry "at will". Stop licking Rickson's bunghole and face reality.

Tony10- I used Zinoviev as an example. I do not doubt Sperry's abilities. He is a great bjj practitioner. But he is no finisher. In a NTL match the finisher will win. Rickson always finishes his opponents. He also would finish Sperry.

At Abu Ahabi Sperry out points his opposition. He outpointed Enson. Won by advantage over Traven. Won by 2 points over Ricardo Almeida after a 30 min match. This score and stall strategy will be his downfall. He can't hold on to Rickson forever.

Besides he will lose to Kerr in the superfight at Abu Dhabi next year anyway. The king of point fighters will beat Mario at his own game.

ummmmmm....sperry could not submit that flabby joker he fought in colloseum. that was kinda pathetic. face it, rickson always submits. he won all 70+ sport events via submission, including rigan.

It would take a while because Sperry would stall but eventually Rickson would make Sperry tap, tap, tap...

I have only seen limited footage of Rickson rolling with Royler, so I don't speak with firsthand knowledge.

But if you believe the highest ranking BJJ fighters,(not just Gracies) and take them at their word, then Rickson is the best. To quote more than one of these guys "he is on a totally different level."

If Mike Tyson or George Foreman repeatedly told the press that "Joe Smith" was the best boxer they have ever seen or fought, would there be much disagreement about whether "Joe Smith" was the best?

            I doubt it.

see it and love it !

              Copied from rickson's website

Rickson is a 7th Degree Black Belt Open Class Champion of the Gracie Family, whose technique is considered to be the finest expression of jiu-jitsu in the world. His innate talent and early mastery of the sport have resulted in an impeccable undefeated record in more than 400 fights, jiu-jitsu tournaments, free-style wrestling, Sambo, open weight free-style competitions, no holds barred challenge matches, and street fights. Rickson is a two time Brazilian Champion in free-style wrestling,a Gold Medal Winner of Sambo, and for the last sixteen years he has been the middle-heavyweight and no weight division World jiu-jitsu Champion. Most recently, he conquered Japan's elite fighting in a tournament, the Japan Open Vale Tudo, winning both in 1994 and 1995. At this time, Rickson was acknowledged by the Japanese for possessing the Samurai Spirit

Duchman: how'd I miss that?!! I think that's saying he won a tournament. I'm talking about him claiming to have rank (belt).

                Ground Control: point taken.

Regardless of all the above, though, I don't think Rickson would cakewalk through Sperry.

                  Duchman,
Rickson has won a Gold Medal in Sambo, I think more then once. If you are trying to say Rickson, if he was a Gold Medal winner, was not telling the truth when he said he didn't have the rules straight, I'd ask how would you know that? I'm not familiar with Sambo tournaments that much, however I am with Boxing Tournaments, Karate Tournaments, and Jiu-Jitsu Tournaments and the rules aren't always the same and neither is the scoring. Its hard for me to believe every Sambo Tournament in this country has always been the same since nothing else is. Rickson Gracie has done some amazing things in many forms of grappling, not just GJJ/BJJ. IMO it takes a very jealous person to overlook the many achievements of someone to degrade them over whether they lost one Sambo match. By the way, Rickson also lost a Judo match by diqualification and I think that's also on his sight, at least it used to be.

                    stop right there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not saying that rickson is a joke he is a wonderfull grappler but his record is a joke to me!
I like bjj and some of the gracies alot!(renzo royler)

Oyhee and a gold medal means shit i can enter a low class samo tournement and take home the gold.
I'm 100% sure if he enterd the russian sambo championchips in his prime time he would not win the gold

p.s you are right he did not know the rules he lost unfair he still has a trauma about it now he only fight's on his own rulles.

                    Another time:

I THINK RICKSON IS GREAT BUT NOT UNBEATEN

Thats a good one. Maybe Kerr could submit Rickson with takedowns. Did you see the Kerr vs Leohnizo match? Kerr couldn't keep him on the ground and the guy only weighed 160.

Ricardo Almeida lost on a judges decision to Kerr. In a NTL match Ricardo could beat Kerr. He almost armlocked him in regulation. Ricardo did pop Kerr's elbow but Kerr was able to gut it out and win via judges decision.(4 judges to 3)

                          HMMMM,
                          Duchman,
If you're saying Rickson is great, but not unbeaten, then
I'll stop since we are all on the same page including Rickson. I took it from your prior posts you were saying something else. Also, I'm not saying if Rickson didn't know the rules he lost unfairly. Its the fighter's responsibility to know the rules, however sometimes for a number of reasons they don't know or misunderstand, still IMO its their fault. What I am saying is it is entirely possible Rickson didn't know the rules. GJJ/BJJ has fared well in Sambo against a lot of people including Russians. I think Rigan won a very big Sambo tournament at one time and beat a very good Russian doing this. Don't hold me to this as I recall the story, but I'm a little fuzzy on all the facts.

                              Rickson X Kerr = WORK

                              STRINGERTHANDEATH-

How would you excpect Kerr to beat Rickson in a NTL!!!!Kerr who has a FEW years grappling ex. couldnt hold a candle to Rickson. In nhb Kerr wouldnt knock out or tap Rickson.in a NTL fight between Kerr and Rickson,Rickson would take a beating but still make Kerr cry Uncle.
