  • Which martial art for me?

I posted this in the introduce yourself place but got no replies, so I shall try here.

Hello everyone, I've come online to look at which martial art I want to do in the future. I've done karate for a couple of years, and looking at starting a new style sometime in the next six months, might sound silly and premature, but I really want to learn a style that primarily focuses on restraints and lockups of an aggressor(s), being able to completely immobilize without inflicting any harm.
I was thinking most strongly toward an akido style, but is there anything in particular I should try and find?

    Cheers for the help guys.

Everyone who reads here already knows what I would recommend. If I've typed it once I've typed it too many times already...

ANYONE? Tell the new guy that the "gentle" art is everybody's "thing" if they say it's Brazilian don't buy it. All hype aside what you want is JUDO.

The many methods of strangulation are particularly interesting if "restraint" is your aim.

But don't take my word for anything...

I have to ask what your goals are.

Why are you interested in completely immobilizing someone without hurting them?

Do you want to be able to do this for self defense purposes?

So what are you saying Tant? That Judo kicks BJJ's ass?

Why would I say such a thing? BJJ is judo...Judo can not kick it's own ass.

In Judo competitions, Judo kicks its own ass .

I would go with judo since chances are, if you'll need to restrain somebody in a non-serious situation, things won't go to ground-fighting. If its restraining somebody in a serious situation, judo is no worse than BJJ
