Kerr's Illusion
I think Kerr is a bit off his rocker. I checked out his web site, he has this whole intro about how he see's himself as a super heroe, how he has been able to make "such a difference in the lives of so many!". And then in Pride he took the mic and went on about how he does this for each one of the fans "each and every one of you!". Does he think were stupid? Give me a break. He's an athlete who enjoys his sport, makes good $$ at it and that's why he does it. He might be a role model for some kid, but get a perspective, he's no heroe. He's not Mother Theresa. He isn't feeding the homeless or on the mission fields of the Sudan risking his life, he's not a Doctor saving lives, or a cop putting his ass on the line. It kills me when these athletes see themselves as some bigger than life hero, when all they do is PLAY A GAME, meanwhile real heroes go unnoticed day after day.

Interesting post. He does seem to have a exaggerated view of himself.
And his ADCC matches are boring as hell...not too inspiring on that front.

How does laying in someone's guard that you outweigh by 20-30 pounds equate to handing them their ass?? It seems you are blinded by a complete hatred for bjj. It's pretty funny that you constantly act as though we have to defend the merits of an effective, proven style. Not a perfect style or complete style. Yet you advance these "ninjitsui concepts" which are totally unproven as though they are the gospel truth. No one here that I've heard has said bjj is all you need, but it is a very effective style to which you can add other elements.Comment

Isnt that the whole point to BJJ? Wasnt it's greatest version developed by a small frail man that used it to defeat larger opponents? Are you saying that if I outweigh a BJJ guy by 20lbs I can easily neutralise him by laying in his gaurd? Come to think of it, the mighty Takada did this with Royce Gracie!! What good is this thing you call BJJ?
That does not say much for the style in my opinion.
As for Ninjutsu concepts never being proven,to make such an ignorant comment you obviously have never witnessed champions like Steve Jennum or Saku in action .Comment

Ok first point, you go from saying Kerr handed Sperry his ass, now you reply by saying he neutralized him. Is that the same thing in your book? 2ndly bjj can help compensate for size differential better than almost any other art. Of course if both parties know the same thing in any art and are of the same skill level (Kerr has been studying bjj for the last 5 years) it will be much harder to win, mamy times resulting in a stale mate. Finally I love it when someone throws out "ignorant" just because someone disagrees with them (ummm liberal?). Saku is in no way a ninja, he has said his base is wrestling with some striking. But I guess when you have an imaginary art you can put anything under that umbrella. Oh....Steve Jenum? Who has he beaten? So aside from Steve Jenum and the guy Pat Smith destroyed, who do you have left?Comment

QKFX, you won't know about who the great ninjas are but they won't step in a ring with you. They will slit your throat at night while you sleep, poison your food, crank your neck and break it while you are standing in front of a urinal, etc. They won't be telling you their name before they get you.Comment

Miyagi, so it sounds like the guys on death row are all ninjas. Secondly I finally read through Shimorah's site. His material on Dux and Jenum was hilarious. I have succesfully been trolled. I don't know why I took him seriously..."maybe because he said "I'm dead serious about what I say". DOH!Comment

ADCC SUCKS!!
Sperry was not scored upon! 'Nuf said!
Sperry was penalized for using the guard?!! Now how ridiculous is that?!! Penalized for something that is a big part of your submission wrestling game.
The ADCC just sucks. If that is the "premier" grappling event, then grappling events are doomed.
They should view the NAGA as the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS! ADCC is only where it's at because of the "Prince".
The NAGA has better rules for a submission wrestling contest IMO.
Saying that "Kerr handed Sperry is ass", is just absurd!
