  • What are all the notable MMA strategies?

    I everyone,

Would it be safe to say that as of right now, the notable MMA strategies are lay-and-pray, clinch-and-pound, ground-and-pound, sprawl-and-brawl, and submission fighting? I just need to know since I'm trying to teach a friend wut little MMA I know and don't want to teach him the wrong things :P

I'd stay away from teaching him if you're still a rookie, to be honest.

In addition to ground and pound, sprawl and brawl, and lay and pray, there's also snipe and gripe. That one's only used at press conferences, though.

Ok, I'll try and stay away from teaching if I'm still a rookie. But he's just a hapkido/taekwondo friend who wants to know the gist of MMA and learn a few takedowns/sprawls/ground-fighting and basic MMA strategies, is me teaching him really that bad?

            YES.

Nothing wrong with playing though. Knock yourselves out!

And post the video for us!

By teaching him when you yourself don't even have all the fundamentals concreted yet you can really screw up his foundation. Not worth it at all.

If youre not sure, send him somehwere where he would learn. however, if you are certain you are good at a part of MMA, strikes, grappling, wrestling etc then show him what you know only.

Watch some MMA and study it. See what types of fighters do what, what backgrounds do they have.

As long as your having fun, then teach. But for MMA, break it down into training in speclty areas if your starting from scratch.
