  • Dad gave me a bulletproof vest...

My dad came home and said that the Goverment issued everyone vests to wear. He said he rather not wear it at all and so he sorta left the whole thing to me, because he wants nothing to do with it.

Since I have it now, I might as well know something about it. I know alot of people on this forum are gun experts and have good knowledge on this kind of stuff. I have a Level II Second Chance vest. Do you guys know how much its worth and how effective it is? And no I am not thinking of selling it...I just want to know what its worth.

You know, you have a great body armour, me to have a second chance, mine is level IIA, it means that it's apt to stop no more powerful rounds than FMJ 9mm para. Yours it's rated up to 357mag level. Check carefully the kevlar for any kind of damage.

I don't know how it values in the US but here it's very expensive.

Now, DON'T do what I've done long time ago....

Damn, Underdog, why do you have a vest? Do you wear yours often? On closer inspection its a triflex IIa model. Whatever that means.

LOL...I remember reading about that! Its a brand spankin new vest, even came with heavy duty undershirts to wear it with. Two years ago my dad got a spyderco endura issue to him, to my dismay he threw it out without even telling me, along with his handcuffs and his gunbelt when we moved to Canada. I was able to rescue the handcuffs....not alas the knife is gone forever. He has no clue how much money he is throwing away!

          Sure, YeLLa,
I know the REAL reason you want the vest. To go out at night as a masked superhero to reek vengeance on the criminal masterminds!

          ..............can I come too?

Second Chance was the first company to make soft body armor and still leads the industry in quality and new improvements. A Triflex IIA should retail between $700 and $900, depending on the size, type of cover, and if it is a full wrap around or not. The government/police price should be about $200 cheaper than retail.

I had the vest more than ten years ago, back then I was HEAVILY into shooting, and yes, we did TEST our equipment to the extreme. I weared them on a couple occasion, but I never accustomed to it.

Hey Tiger Punk, you can wear the vest around to make your upper body look like you have some meat on it.

I'll bet your dumb friends will think you're on Roids now....

                  HA!

Wearing a vest in Canada is like wearing a sombrero at the North pole.......

                    hahaha!
Sorry, YeLLa, but the sombrero thing was kinda funny

Hey seriously though, a while ago when I was up there, a kid shot someone in a subway I think. Do you know who I'm talking about? What happened to him? About a year ago maybe.

LOL @ Sweep. Its funny cause its true. Wearing a vest in Canada is useless and pointless. I think its overkill to issue them. But on the borders of TJ to San Diego however...

Ryu, I have not heard of any kid being shot in the subway. Canadian news is so mundane that I dont watch any of it.

I guess it's an improvement over last year's gift- a carton of cigarettes.

Yella-Tiger, your from Canada? What part?

Ya, body armour may be overdoing it a little up there, mind you I've never lived in any big cities up there like Toronto or Vancouver, it may be a little bit of a different story in places like that, I don't know.

I live in Toronto...believe me, I have a bigger chance of being killed by a polar bear in a pink tutu than being shot in toronto.
