Damn straight. Beer is cheap and shochu (I think the Koreans call it soju) is even cheaper. But I don't recommend the stuff. It gives awful headaches. Seoul is a cool town. You should wander the streets at night and sample the food from all the different hawkers. You'll also want to hit one of the BBQ places and get some bulgologi or kalbi. If you aren't of the asian persuasian be careful around some of the young drunk guys. They all think they are bad @$$ because of the military service they've done, can be extremely xenophobic, and like to fight. Especially if they catch you talking to the local girls. Speaking of the girls in Seoul, most guys who've been around Asia agree that they are (surprisingly) the best looking women in this part of the world.

Oh yeah, bobby, gas in Japan runs between $4 and $5 a gallon. Even with the recent rise in the price of gas in the US, Americans still pay a lot less then the rest of the developed world. Of course with all the open space and no public transpotation we are a lot more reliant on the car.

E1 am is right. Koreans have really bad tempers. They really get that uncontrollable rage sometimes. Also they are unpredictible. But all in all, very nice people!

BTW Korean Girls can be such biotches to you sometimes. Like if they are vengeful and you piss one off, they go running off to their oppa (older brother) and he and several other people will come down to kick your ass..

As ugly as they are, I'm starting to think Japanese girls aren't that bad. At least they are easy ... to deal with. But would someone PLEASE introduce modern dentistry to this country?

                Seoul

This will be my third trip to Seoul, and I agree - it is a really cool city! The Koreans tend to be nationalistic and xenophobic, but at the same time there are always people who try to help you when you look lost - even if they don't speak English!

Soju... oh boy. I think I'll just stick to "maekju" - beer! In fact, my Korean is pretty much limited (aside from the usual pleasantries) to ordering beer (and strangely enough - octopus). "Maekju hana chuseo!"

As far as Korean women are concerned. Yes, I'll say they are among the most beautiful of Asia. I teach people from all over the region, and so far I think my Thai and Vietnamese students have the edge, but in Korea there are beautiful women everywhere! But to share the observation of one of my female Singaporean friends, yes there are so many beautiful women in Korea, but so many that being beautiful is no longer something special.

E1am: "But would someone PLEASE introduce modern dentistry to this country?"

LOL! Sad to say this is also a HUGE problem with my Vietnamese students... Ah, nothing $2000 worth of orthodontics can't cure!

Yella Tiger: 79.9???? Per litre???? Holy Sh*t! When I left Vancouver a year ago I was annoyed that prices were up to 50 cents per litre. This was a year after a major price war between several companies that had prices down to 35 cents. Those were the days...

That's a great vest you got there! Up here in canada that thing would easily be $1000.00+, of course with our exchange rate that would equal to $85 U.S., Seriosuly that thing will stop a 357 mag., no prob. Not that effective with sharp pointy objects like an ice pick though. Very good, however, gainst sharp object slash attacks.
