Who will win? Couture vs. Lesnar

Although I think Couture is over rated, I believe he will beat the inexperienced Lesnar. I mean, how did Lesnar even warrant a championship fight? He just lost to Frank Mir recently and has one other win on his record. I thought you had to earn a chance at the championship.

This will be very interesting. I don't think Randy can work his usual clinch game with Lesner so that might be a bit of a problem. Randy always enters with a gameplan though so I'm guessing he's going to fight him standing and maybe try to rock him before he tries to clinch and take him down for the GnP. No doubt Lesnar is going to come out shooting for takedowns right off the whistle.

Lesnar has a good chance of winning, you can't count him out of the battle just yet. He's got strength, wrestling, and just sheer force. A good shot to the head from Lesnar will definitely even the playing field. That and Randy can't go with his usual clinch and bully strategy since Lesnar is so much stronger and has a good wrestling base. I think Randy's strategy this time will be to go in and outsrike him. When he's got Lesnar rocked he'll proceed with the clinch and takedown to GNP.

Lesnar is freakishly fast for a man of his build. In my heart of hearts I want Randy to win to stop MMA heading down that "freakshow" route (Royce V akebono, getting actual sufferers of gigantism like Hong Man Choi etc to fight)... So I'm voting for Randy, but I'm almost too scared to actually watch next month in case it goes the other way.

I love watching lesnar fight to be honest, hes a beast. Ya i agree with cakegirl, lesnar is fast for his size. But if you think about it, Lesnar has a haldfull of mma fights, sure hes been training, but i think Randy has experience over Lesnar.
I hope Lesnar would win because hes sorta the underdog, but who knows, cant wait to see it

Although Randy should have a clear technical edge in striking and submissions, Lesnar does have an extremely distinguished amateur wrestling background. According to Wikipedia:
Lesnar attended Webster High School in Webster, South Dakota where he managed to have a 33-0 record in his senior year.[14] Lesnar later attended the University of Minnesota on a full wrestling scholarship for his junior and senior years of college; his roommate was fellow professional wrestler Shelton Benjamin who also served as Lesnar's assistant coach.[15] Lesnar won the 2000 NCAA wrestling championship as a heavyweight after placing second in 1999. Prior to joining the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Lesnar also wrestled at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, North Dakota.[3] Lesnar finished his amateur career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Conference Champion, and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college.
Now Randy has beaten at least two former NCAA Division 1 champions: Mike van Arsdale by submission and Kevin Randleman by KO. Neither wrestled in the heavyweight division, however (van Arsdale wrestled at 167 and Randleman at 177). So I don't think Randy has ever faced an opponent with Lesnar's combination of wrestling skill, size, strength, quickness and youth. I hope and believe Randy will win regardless, but I think it will be a tough fight and probably an entertaining one to watch.

You guys also have to realize that Dana White is a good businessman, he wouldn't just throw Brock Lesnar (who's a pretty decent cash-cow right now for the UFC) out to get beat. He's pairing him against Randy because he knows Randy has a decent chance of losing.
