Wow this thread came back alive didn't it?
Guys of course a gun is more of a practical self-defense weapon if you're going to use the most practical out there. Guns put an end to martial art talk period.
Hounddog, I completely agree with you on that.
However getting a gun is more legally draining, and there are many limitations to where you can carry, how, etc. then a knife.
Also take into consideration too that one of my arts is Filipino martial arts. So knife fighting isn't something I do to be "cool" I train it as a martial art with the same realities, and philosophical emphasis I put on anything else like judo, BJJ, etc.
As Mik said I would NEVER want to get into a knife fight, and would not think of pulling a knife on someone (a felony) unless I was afraid for my life, or serious bodily injury. That is a circumstance I'll have to deal with if it ever comes....I hope to God it does not.
But no, I understand what you are saying very much so, and you'll really not get any agruments from me on it. I thought you were trying to argue that the Filipino martial arts were worthless. But obviously that wasn't your intention.
You guys have to remember too, that I am not someone that goes looking to fight, or claims to be a tough guy. I enjoy writing, morality, etc. and I have a religious background in Buddhism and Christianity to boot. I really enjoy peace and the philosophical aspects of MA. Handling knives also lets me express myself in a certain way. It's definately not a lust for blood or anything
Perish the thought.
Bobby, LOL
that was actually pretty funny! (it's a secret training tip! Don't give it away you fool!)
