If you are referring to Tim Cartmell, he studies BJJ now. He has studied it since 1994 as stated in his biography. In 6 yrs he could easily have his brown belt. Sorry to burst your bubble.Comment

Ground, yeah, I know he does BJJ too. So do I. I still don't think this takes away from the CMA aspect. Especially when you have guys who box and do BJJ, Muay Thai and BJJ, etc. PEACEComment

i was curious if you know of any good CMA instructors in the St. Louis area, or perhaps your instructor(s) do? Just curious. I meet tons of CMA that to my (inexperienced) eyes aren't very impressive...at least in this area of the country. I'd love to be referred to one that has the deeper knowledge of his art.

Yeah this proves the effectiveness of kung fu. Kung fu sucks and I am tired of seeing your posts on not all kung fu guys are close minded, not all suck, etc. This is a BJJ forum, so please leave your closet kung fu kick in the closet.

I'm not too sure. There used to be a real good spot in Quad City. I'm not too sure how far that is from you. They did a mix of William Chen and Peter Ralston stuff. They were good at the soft part of it but they were some tripped out people.

I have included the hands and feet aspect of Wing Chun Kung Fu into my training. It has been incredibly beneficial. When I spar with boxer's, I eat their lunch with the blocks and hand speed. I'm 230 sparring with guys between 160-200. We can probably learn something useful from all disciplines.
I know "Ranger" Stott taught me how to block a knee with my nose. I will always treasure that technique.

Oh, thats true. I forgot about the effective trapping techniques of wing chun. Boxers are such suckers to a good wing chun man.

Yeah, there are guys that train in grappling plus boxing and/or kickboxing, but the skills they learn in those arts aren't going to help them at AD.
