  • Knuckle-Joint Pain While Striking

I've noticed that while I'm striking here has a tendency to be pain in the joint where my knuckles are. This usually occurs during bagwork and mitts but I've also had it occur occasionally during sparring.

I normally wear 12oz boxing gloves. I've never really worn handwraps that often so maybe that's a problem? So what could be some causes to my joint pain, could it be that I just need to wrap m hands when I do striking or maybe I'm just a ridiculously hard hitter ?

I get this pretty bad, to the extent where I'm left with a dull ache pretty much all the time. A number of years ago one of my coaches showed me how to wrap my hands really well, and that helped for a while. However, with my hands wrapped better, I realized I could hit harder and harder, and so the net result ended up being the same.

I've now just accepted that if you hit hard, week in week out, against leather and bone, for a lot of years - damage to your hands just comes with the territory.

Try toughing your hands on a Makiwari Board.

coudl be many different things cudl just be sensitivity in the joints myself i fight every day hitting a Makiwari Board hell i even hot bags and the mits but i have never had that problem for 3 years i went without wrapped hands then i started wrapping them when i wrap it is mroe for the wrist support so it not gonna be the fact that nyou dont wrap and if you talk to a boxer he will say the same thing the wrapping is more for the wrist but you just have to either tough it out or change sports
