  • Atlanta Judo Tournament

What's up people, forums have been kinda dead lately so I thought I'd share some of what's going on on my end of training.
I went to a Judo tournament this saturday in Atlanta and definitely had a blast. I signed in, weighed in at exactly 161 and was ready to go.
They originally filed me under the Novice division with all the other white and green belts but my coach decided to bump me up to Advanced (brown and black). To sum things up I played 4 matches, won 2 lost 2. I threw 2 different black belts for ippon for my victories and lost by ippon to the same brown belt (blast it!). My friend took some pictures and should've recorded all the fights so I might upload them later on.

Well anyways, train hard, stay safe,

    Bjjexpertise

I finally got my hands on the video now, just gotta upload them one by one!
This is the 3rd match of mine, it's broken up into 2 parts.

I did not move nearly as much as I should've and I definitely should've been hitting the feet more. It was my very first time going against somebody shorter than me in my weightclass so I had to keep reminding myself not to bend over. I'd type more but I'm off to practice, feel free to comment and critique, away!

                Edit:I'm the dude who's not a blackbelt

This was the first match of the day. Grip fought, and didn't feel any sort of control or dominance from him really. I hesitated and threw a rather weird osotogari because it was brainwashed into my head from my coaches to never throw osoto as a first move or in the first 30 seconds of a match. The end result was an osotogari that looked like an outside ouchigari so he couldn't counter me if I messed that osoto up. Truth be told I feel that should've been a Waza-ari instead of an Ippon.

Edit:Videos of me losing, coming soon.

                          Congratulations!

Too bad I missed this one; I live in Atlanta.

Anyway, if you happened to be in Atlanta on the weekend of April 18-19, 2009 you could come and see my Shihan who is giving a great seminar in Combat Jiu Jitsu.

                          Cheers!

That's fairly awesome for your first match bro! Can't argue with the RESULTS!

Pat on the back, or high five...? You did good buddy!

I was actually expecting that very throw just a few seconds earlier but you got the FEEL for his footwork and pulled it off the next time. (SUPER)

                              two thumbs up!!!
