Like every other guy here, I take BJJ to pick up women.

I was just joking Caterpiller. And by "ass" i meant the person. Not their ass literally. Pathetic ass = Pathetic person.

I do BJJ becuase it's fun. And i get a feeling that i can take care of myself. You know? I don't really do it for self defense but if it didn't have any self defense value then i wouldn't be doing it.

            a philosophical reason

I train because, when I go hard at a variety of opponents, over a long period of time, I learn something about myself.

That primarily is, that my limits aren't what I thought they were, that I am capable of taking a lot more than I ever dreamed.

Can you see how this applies to life? It's the attribute training, the mental toughness and poise that comes from giving it all, taking allot, and the realization that you could.

This transfers out into the world beyond the dojo.

The physical nature of it is fun and it gives us all something that we inwardly need--to be physically violent, yet in a controlled setting.

Fighting and martial arts are one of a VERY few means of accomplishing these same things. I've not found many other ways of obtaining TRUE inward transformation...

No, inward transformation has nothing to do with cross-dressing or other gender-bending
