  • Whats your take on stretching?

Do any of you recommend stretching machines? If so which ones? Do you think most people who've acquired the ability to do the splits did on by manual exercises alone? Do machines (stretching) work multiple stretch types or just the traditional splits?

I'm thinking of investing in one. I've got the flexibility of the brick...!

IMO machines can't do any more then you can do on your own as far as stretches go. Health For Life has a small pamplet called synergistic stretching that is very good and cheap. I'd look around
before I put money into a machine unless you've got money to burn.

The same thing can be easily achieved if you have two palm trees and an intricate pulley system in your back yard.

I was wondering about this too, as I am also a member of the unflexible brick club. I was thinking about the new one that Chuck Norris and Bob Wall are promoting, forgot the name of it though.

I have a stretching machine, for which I paid about $140. It works as advertised--although, remember: you're really getting one kind of stretch.

Keep your expectations real, though. You won't be doing kicks over your head in a month. But you will notice a difference if you stay with it.

Try yoga. I can't recommend it enough and it has lots of benefits that extend beyond just stretching.

there is so much more gear I would consider investing in before a stretching machine!
