oh my, pride president is starting to promote this fight. adcc is reporting this now! I guess pride feels as though they can make this fight happen. I assume there must have been talks already with both camps if they are starting to advertise this fight. looks like I will be off to japan to see this one!

If you go see this it'll be HUGE because I also heard they'll be advertising Ogawa vs. Takada which is (believe it or not) an even bigger draw than the Sak vs. Rickson fight.

I'll believe it when i see it, but if this is for real, hell YEA!!!! A young 25 year old Rickson would've ran Sak over no problem. I still hope he can wing it in his early 40's. I just hope he doesn't end up like his father Helio did years ago, fighting a much younger fighter while in his 40's and losing a fight he should have won if he was younger.Last edited by HardCore BJJ; 06-27-2001, 05:17 PM.

Hmmm, I haven't heard anything about this but I've been out of the loop for a while. There is no way it's happening in the next Pride though. If it was everyone and their mother would be talking about it over here. If actually does happen I'll be pissed though. Why? Because I'm going back to Seattle in about 5 weeks.

If it happens, I'll definitely watch (I barely ever miss seeing a Pride event anyway) but am I the only one who thinks this is just getting tiring? This whole Sak vs the gracie clan thing is just going too far. Do they want him to fight the entire family? Does the entire family want to get this obsessed with beating him?? If anything, the Silva fight proves that there are many other fighters outside of Gracie Bjj guys that Sak should test himself against. And after such a consistently spectacular job in the ring, such a quick and easy loss to Silva deserves a rematch. I'd really like to see Sak cover new ground and grow as a fighter (better striking skills perhaps?) rather than have reruns of Sak vs Gracie Jiu Jitsu over and over again. As for Rickson, he's past his prime and hasn't been a consistent top competitor in fighting for quite some time. Nowadays the top level competition is at a whole new level and there are so many young athletic, well rounded powerhouses around. I'm sure Rickson knows this as well as anyone. He has nothing to prove.
