Even though at yesterday's show you can tell that its becoming more "pro-wrestling" like, I still thought it was great. I can't wait to see all the fighters promoting Vale Tudo gear like some Tap Out or Atama stuff on regular TV. I was just thinking about how cool this all is yesterday when I was dreaming about being a pro fighter and being just like any other sport athelete. It really would be cool. Onto the fights...
Welterweight Bout: Paul Rodriguez v. Tony DeSouza: DeSouza, RD. 1, 1:05 Guillotine Choke
Props to DeSouza, that was a real cool looking Gullotine.
Heavyweight Bout: Andrei Orlovski v. Ricco Rodriguez: Rodriguez, TKO RD. 3
From the looks of things, this was a pretty big ass whooping. Ricco is cool IMO but I can see him taking an ass whooping sometimes himself.
Light Heavyweight Bout: Yuki Kondo v. Vladimir Matyushenko: Matyushenko, Judges Dec. after 15:00, 3 RDs.
I'm not biased against wrestlers, I'm biased against wrestlers that fight like this. Complete and utter BS for the exception of that bad ass kick that killed Yuki. The good ol' lay and pray made a comeback. Get this Vladimir out of the UFC.
Lightweight Bout: Caol Uno v. Fabiano Iha: Uno, KO RD. 1, 1:48
Ok, maybe I was tripping about Iha being a joke but I still predicted an ass whooping by Uno and thats what we got. Great KO, you don't see things happen like that to a BJJ fighter everyday.
Welterweight Bout: Pat Miletich v. Shonie Carter: Miletich, KO RD. 2
I had five on Shonie, and as tight as Shonie was, I knew as soon as the fight started Shonie was going to lose and it wasn't going to be a JD. Pat is a machine, I shouldn't have doubted him. Great kick.
Heavyweight Bout: Semmy Schilt v. Josh Barnett: Barnett, Arm Bar RD. 1
I picked Schilt, completely forgetting about the fact that I thought he was hideously overrated. Schilt isn't a terrible fighter, but he does suffer from extreme Yvel syndrome. Terrible performance but a great one by Josh Barnett. One of the best fights of the night and not to mention bloody. Not a half-bad arm bar I would say.
Lightweight Bout: BJ Penn v. Din Thomas: BJ Penn, KO RD. 1, 2:22
Jiu Jitsu! Jiu Jitsu! LOL j/k. However, BJ is a bad ass. A lot of BJJ haters thought that Jiu Jitsu fans just liked him because he can grapple. But obviously we realized his great multi-demontional style. Props to Din, but BJ is all too much.
(Light Heavyweight Championship): Tito Ortiz (Champion) vs Elvis Sinosic (Challenger): Ortiz, Ref Stoppage Strikes, RD.1
Tito is a bad ass, major props to the man as much as I love Elvis. Nice try for Elvis, his first title shot against an unstoppable machine. Right now Tito has a better chance to beat up any of the top Light Heavyweight than they do of beating him. That does include Liddel, Henderson and Vitor. Elvis will be back, the question is; who is next for Tito? Incredible.
Here's a card I'd like to see next UFC.
Lightweight Bout: Din Thomas vs. Fabiano Iha
Light Heavyweight Title Shot: Dan Henderson vs. Chuck Liddel
Lightweight Title shot: BJ Penn vs. Caol Uno
Lightweight Championship: Hallman vs. Pulver (confirmed for those not in the know)
Light Heavyweight Bout: Kevin Randelman vs. Elvis Sinosic
Heavyweight Bout: Pedro Rizzo vs. Pete Williams
Heavyweight Championship: Couture vs. Barnett
