  • We're back! Wondering what happened?

    Hi,

After almost 2 weeks of being offline we're back! The server I was hosted on went out of business. Since then I've been searching for a good hosting solution and then had problems with the DNS which extended the amount of time spent offline.

    I don't anticipate anymore downtime.

Please help spread the word letting people know the forum is back online. It would be great if everyone finds their way back here.

Thanks for all your continued support.

    Tim

          Hey Tim,

By hosting this forum yourself, you're making life much more difficult than it should be. I haven't been here long yet there have been several serious outages. You should outsource the forum to someone that has the resources to keep it up. Newbies often make the same mistake you are making.

Everytime there is a serious outage you will lose lots of customers. If you are trying to build a MMA business this is a sure way to make it fail. I bet you've already invested way too much time into keeping this forum up. You should leave it to the pros.

          Just my 2c.

            Kim,

We appreciate the support you have demonstrated to the forum.

I have to disagree with your opinion that Tim should be likened to a "newbie". After all, his was the first forum online devoted to martial arts.

Tim makes no money from running this site; his money is made through computer programming, script installation, and his martial arts school.

            Again, your support is appreciated.

Sorry, I meant that from what I understand Tim isn't a computer pro, but rather someone that runs a MA business who has picked up computer skills on the side. Such people often underestimate the amount of effort required to keep a system running 24/7. It may cost more in $$$ terms to outsource to the pros, however, it's a lot less hassle and uptime is much better.

              Thanks for all your work!

                No problem -
Most people aren't aware that Tim is a computer programmer.

Actually, in person, Tim looks more like a computer programmer than a MA instructor. He reminds me of Freddie Roach of boxing (2nd pic)

You have got to be kidding me.

"Hello Kitty" chastising Tim for technical matters?!

                      What next... car repair essentials?

Hey, I wasn't chastising, I was just making the point that Tim should reconsider running the forum on a hosted service such as easyBoard, the costs would be covered by the advertising, members could get rid of the ads for a very small fee. This would minimize the downtime for the forum and freeup Tim to work on other parts of the site which he could still host at his current ISP.
