The fact that wrestling is used so widely used and trained by MMA fighters cleary shows how important they believe it to be.

How right you are, as under the current rules, they can play huggy bear with their opponent and hug their way to a decision.

Hug against the fence, and make sure your opponent's back is to the fence as the judges will give you points for this.
Hug on the ground, but just be on top. Don't go for subs as your opponent might escape or (god forbid) take top position. Don't try to pass guard as your opponent may escape. Don't wind up for punches from top position as your opponent might escape. Don't take any chances, just stay on top.
If the opponent DOES in fact escape, this is the perfect opportunity to earn more points by taking them down again!

It's not necessary to finish fights, just wrestle your way to decisions like Mr. Sonnen and Mr. Fitch do. The fans will love it.

Then the rules need changing to bring the spectacle back to the fans.

I know, let's make it a rule that they have to stand in leg irons two feet away from each other and throw nothing but Rocky movie haymakers at each other while their cornermen throw folding chairs across the ring and fireworks shoot out from the ring girls' pasties! Maybe that kind of silly shit would satisfy the 'life must be like a video game' crowd who have the attention span of a gnat, can't appreciate real skill, and wouldn't want to if they could. Nonsense.

No but maybe it would placate the thousands of fans who liked Pride better and are losing interest in MMA because we don't enjoy watching wrestlers win decisions.

FINISH THE DAMN FIGHT, or at least TRY.

I have no problem with GSP. I enjoyed his last fight even though he didn't finish, because he made attempts to finish.

I don't get into guys who just try to score points and take the decision. Meaningless takedowns, meaningless grinding against a fence, short-lived takedowns, meaningless top position, etc. That's ruining the sport.

I guess Jubaji thinks people like me can't appreciate real skill. Or he just needs to work on his reading comprehension and stop with his idiotic "maybe you should watch people throw chairs" or maybe you should watch WWE or toughman or whatever. That's why Jubaji is a jackass.

Let the twitchy little ADHD idiots go play their video games then. You could be their grandmaster.

MMA fans do need to realise that wrestling is a skill just as stand up fighting is a skill as well. Grappling in any shape or form will always be in MMA otherwise it won't be MMA anymore.

Or am I stating the obvious too much?
