Wrestling (Freestly, folkstyle, Greco-Roman and Judo but not jujitsu/bjj) is the most important because they determine where the fight will be fought.

I don't think any one MA or any combination of any complete MA's is the answer.

It should be a combination of tools from many MA's. You wold need and effective stand up fighting skill, punches and kicks.

You would need a ground game to put submissions on the opponent, as well as practice getting out of submissions or avoiding them all together.

If you have a good stand up game then you may not have to go to ground, and if you have a good ground game you won't have to worry if you do.

How often does a fighter "not have to go to the ground" in today's MMA?

Not necessarily a "trick question" but one that provokes thought..
