I don't know if I completely agree with you. I've never seen someone finish Pedro with ground and pound punches and am not so sure Randy would have. I suppose we'll never know. I do agree that the 5 minute rounds are to Pedro's advantage since he gets more opportunities to begin standing-up.

Overall, I think Randy will come better prepared and chose his puches more carefully. Therefore, unlike most people, I expect a pretty boring fight until the late rounds. I think Randy will save his energy once on the ground, so he'll have something in reserve each round for the takedown.

Since Pedro is more of a counter puncher, I think he'll have some difficulties in the first three rounds and will have to press the action in the 4th and 5th.

There is a secret weapon this time in Pedro's training regime, which I can't elaborate on, but let's just say that cardio will not be an issue.

    Regards,

That's a good point, Hitch! Pedro's a tough hombre and he probably wouldn't have tapped. I do thing that there was an excellent chance of the fight being stopped if the round didn't end.

But, I for one actually like 5 minute rounds. With 10 minute rounds, you have to restart the fight when it stalls on the ground. That brings up the ole argument of when should a fight be restarted, the ref made a mistake, etc.

With 5 minute rounds, you can let the fight play out with minimal interference from refs. Secondly, I don't have to sit through some long as round where fighters end up stalling on the ground or cooking their opponent if you will.

Pedro's top notch, but I think Couture will take him again. Should be war...

      later dude
