The fouette still could have dislocated your knee even if it was bent, same as a oblique kick. When we practice low leg kick stopkicks we land them just below the knee for safety, get a dummy for full power knee attack training, I have a Big Blue. Trust me you don't want to have your knee cap ripped sideways and have your knee joint fill up with several onces of blood
, 2+ months and I'm still not even close to 100%. Use some knee and shin protection, same for the eyes. My friends and I used to practice eye jabs full power to the area between the eyebrows, we were lucky (and dumb). Knife sparring at least wear some harbingers gloves. I hit my friends knuckles (fingers) and it swelled up 3x the size for over 3 weeks, hard to do work, train, etc.
