You can justify restraining someone so that they are no longer a threat to society. However when you reduce yourself to the grave crime of murder to chastize someone, how are you any better? Just because your sentence logically sounds the same as mine, you're basically saying imprisonment is the same as killing. Most people would disagree.

Personally I don't see why it's so difficult to grasp.
