They had two juijitsu matches against each other. One was apparently very close; Rigan was leading until about ten seconds remained and Rickson armlocked him. The other time Rickson also tapped him out.

wrong, wrong, wrong!!!! they had two matches. Rickson won both. The most famous match was when Rigan was 17 and gave Rickson all he could handle, but eventually Rigan tapped to exhaustion. I don't know exactly how Rigan lost the other match.

I don't know for sure, but I remember reading that they had a match where Rigan was leading on points until very close to the end. There was one other guy, whose name I forget, who also was leading Rickson until getting subbed in the closing seconds. I guess these would be a big deal since Rickson usually won all his matches easily. I could be wrong because I haven't read these articles in years.

I apologize for sounding arrogant. You're right Rickson had a close match with Sergio Penha

Yeah, when Rickson fought Sergio, he had a bout with the flu and was also exhausted from taking care of his new born baby (who incidently was Rockson). Rickson was losing on points, and turned it on in the end, to submit Sergio.

I was there and witnessed this incredible match in person.
Rigan got on top of rickson but Rickson did this amazing twisting moton and reversed to gain mount on Rigan. It was like watching two chess masters at work. I still have my autographed Gi from that day.

i have video footage of the match... the constant reversals by both are amazing!!! it' a trip watching rickson being thrown around.
