    Pepper Perfection?

Just so you know, Joe: pepper spray is not infallible. Nor is anything else within reason. I have seen people peppered and maced and continue to go at it.

Interesting approach: thump someone who is disabled.

I'd use the judo breakfall techniques when I get knocked to the ground...

lol...relax and don't get too technical...

Most people can't take pepper spray in the face..especially the kind that i have. this type is if even breath it ...it fu.cks you up bad....and lets say it doesn't affect him....IT'S BETTER THEN HIM NOT HAVING ANYTHING IN HIS EYES AT ALL...come greg baby..be more streets smart then that....yo trust me i have experiance in fights..and pepper spray works...I'VE DONE IT!! so you say there is some people who "can" probably take it....HHAHAHAAHAHA NOT THE PEOPLE I'VE SEEN...i've seen securtity guards pepper spray crowds and that works...

Your Pepper spray theory would scare me but ..i can fight...so it dont affect me...that would only affect a women trying to spray an attacker and it doesnt work cause some people can take it...

hahaha i'll just try to knock him out...lololololololol
i've fought 2-3 guys before..it's no biggy...i'm saying ..is that it's just an advantage..that's all
but greg can be right in some cases

          Relaxed

It is definitely an advantage. And it almost always works. It is kind of depressing though to have it work on other deputies and not on the person you wanted to spray.

And I was just suggesting you might want to think it a little farther through. Typically when people say "I would just..." they haven't thought through what that means when that doesn't work.

Always have another plan in place. What was that you were saying about being street smart?

              Fair Enough

I am a great fan of Mr. Colt. Spray is a good idea, but I am more likely to carry my SureFire light and an extra mag.

                Bladed Weapons

any ideas on knife fighting schools??
Most Kali schools will teach knife work. The more modern (i.e. sport - oriented) styles don't put a lot of emphasis on bladed weapons. Schools like Kali Illustrisimo, Bahala Na (Giron-style), Lameco Eskrima, Sayoc Kali, and Pekiti Tirsira (one of the main styles that the Dog Brothers draw from all put a great deal of emphasis on blade work. These are fighting arts, not sport arts. The Inosanto blend that you see at JKDC schools also draws from these styles.

The thing about Filipino arts is that there are literally thousands of styles. Mark Wiley's book Filipino Martial Culture gives a pretty good overview.

Plenty of non-Filipino arts teach usable blade techniques - Bando from Burma, Krabri Krabong from Thailand (Think Muay Thai with swords!), and a zillion or so Silat styles from Malaysia and Indonesia, my favourite being Pencak Silat Mande Muda.

                Try not to get arrested!
