  • Don Frye vs. Ken Shamrock: wagers wanted!

I would have thought this forum would be buzzing with the oddsmakers picks on Shamrock vs. Frye! Isn't anyone interested in handicapping this one?

Give me some picks and odds on this one, people!!

In my opinion, this one could go either way but it will depend what type of fighter shows up on the 24th: the old Shamrock who was prepared to fight in the 1st Severn vs. Shamrock superfight, or the more recent Shamrock who gassed in the Fujita fight. Ditto for Frye: He's actually fought more recently fhan Shamrock, so that could be a big plus. On the other hand, if you consider his old fights, he almost never went up against a submission specialist. The only submission expert he fought was Bitteti, and he did the smart thing: landed some near-knockout punches before going to the ground. Can he do that with someone like Shamrock, whom he does not outsize nor have an enormous reach advantage on?

If Shamrock can get an early takedown, I'd go with Shamrock, if it stays on the feet, Frye. Anyone know if Shamrock has been training appropriately for this one?

Well, here's my esimate on this one:

    3:2 Shamrock. Opinions everyone!

I like to watch both of them. It should be good. If I had to bet on the fight, I would have to lean toward Frye. I think he might tough it out longer if the fight gets tough. Frye is probably a little better boxer and a better wrestler, Shamrock probably has the better submission skills. Just my opinion.

I think I'd give Frye the slight edge due to Shamrock's recent hiatus from MMA.

      Royce owns Ken.

Coleman's boxing skills are average at most yet he outboxed Don Frye. I just don't see what weapons Frye has by which he would likely defeat Shamrock except via decision from Shamrock running out of gas and just working to hang on.

I don't think Coleman "outboxed" Frye, he was able to pound him because he outpositioned him. Plus that is hard to gage because Frye was already quite exhausted from his previous fights while Coleman was somewhat fresh. Both of these guys have done nothing impressive lately and this fight is only exciting because they are both early UFC standouts.
That being said I hope that Shamrock gets his ass beat.

I'm going with Freddy Mercury AKA Don Frye. Mainly becuase Shamrock is a bitch now. This should be a good fight though.

No man, you got it all wrong. Freddy Mercury is Dan Servern. Don Frye is Tom Selleck
