    Attn: Sub Wrestler

I don't think the practical grappler is for me. I'm looking for something similar to Sperry Master Series but no gi. In other words armbars, triangle etc etc Practical grappler seems to basic from what I saw in the web sites.

Also i'm looking for tapes that deal with grappling a grappler, not a man on the street. In other words a grappler bridges, and elbow escapes when mounted, a grappler comes at you with submissions. I need tapes that deal with these scenarios , not what a man on the street would do. Counters, setups, baiting etc etc with respect to what a grappler would do!

I recommend Paulson's tapes then. He shows a lot of stuff like that. His material is awesome and shows counters to counter type stuff. Also, if one submission attempt fails, he shows how to follow up.

You can also try Cecchine's tapes as well. Instead of counters you will learn how to just break your opponent in half. Seriously, the stuff on these tapes is brutal and very, very applicable to submission wrestling. Don't believe people who say these moves require great strength, etc. Anyone can do these moves.

If you truly want to learn submission grappling, you should try to learn from an instructor that has experience in submission grappling. Sperry has won the worlds most prestigious grappling tournament, Abu Dhabi, more then anyone and was the absolute champion for like 4 years or something. His videos are incredible. He teaches more on position first then submission. In my early days of watching videos, I got caught up in the recommended hype from friendly Internet buddies. Show me a submission grappling no gi, tournament that this Eric Pulson has even competed in let alone won. Same thing for Roy Harris and many others. Paulson, Harris and the practical grappling guy have never even been in a submission-grappling event. However, people go out of their way to recommend the videos. I once got convinced into buying some stupid set from one of these guys and that was the last time. What tape set should you buy. Here is a hint of advice. Did the artist ever compete in that type of grappling event? If you want no holds barred teaching, buy from a guy who has experience in no holds barred fighting. Use your head and don’t believe the hype.

By the way, Sperrys Submission grappling does seal with those moves that you are looking for. I havent watched it in awhile but he deals with everything from passing the guard to sweeps and submissions.

I've got both Sperry's Master Series and Submission Wrestling Tapes, I have to say that those tapes have change my and improved my game completely. The best thing about those tapes is that Sperry gives you an entire over all fight plan. This fight plan has helped my game increadibly. I hope to someday own all of his tapes.

I have all of Roy Harris's tapes also. Roy Harris breaks every thing down into small details on his tape, he analizes every move individually, and likes to make lists of every detail of each technique about positioning and other small biomechnical factors that can improve the technique. This may help your game it may not. I know it helped mine because after I watch those tapes I started doing every thing really techniquel and paid attention to all the little details of every move trying to make it as perfect and tight as possible. But other than that there's nothing special about them, his voice gets annoying sometimes and he has clips of him wrestlilng in matches and training sessions and stuff at the end against guys who are blantly far below his skill level. If you ever decide to get a Roy Harris Tape get the seminar tapes and stay away from his Brazilian Jui-Jitsu 101 crap he talks to you like your a moron or something in those tapes.

I stand by the Paulson tapes. Here's my rule of thumb: unless I can beat the guy in the video, I will learn something from it.

Sperry's tapes are great....Paulson's tapes are great. They just have a different format.

I train with a guy who has fought in the UFC, Abu Dabi, IFC, Pancrase, WVC, and a host of other big and smaller shows. I've nailed him with stuff I've seen in Paulson's tapes. This guy would put me on a stretcher if I fought NHB with him. But in sub wrestling, I do pretty good.

Paulson will open up a whole new world of submission possibilities. Some might seem flashy, etc, but if you spend time drilling them, they are very easy to get on others. It's the unexpected nature of these subs that work to your advantage.

Sperry's credentials speak for themselves. He is a phenom and I look forward to seeing him fight some more.

The Paulson tapes sound pretty cool. I'd like to check those out some time.
