  • Pancrase and Shooto...

    What are the main differences?

I know both are blends of various striking and submission styles.
I went to a shoot seminar a few years ago and saw a blend of Muay Thai, BJJ, Sambo, western boxing and wrestling. From what I've seen of Pancrase the blend looks similar.

I'm relocating to Japan next month (Yokohama) so my choices for training are either these or Ninjustu.

Anyone have any suggestions? I know that there's a Gracie school in Tokyo...

    Thanks,

    Tony

    don't laugh at this one...

if you are going to japan, go to a real karate or judo school. kyokushinkai karate has the toughest training i have ever seen - i think the real stuff might even leave thai in the dust.

the key is to shop around - if you are in a rural area, your ****ed, but in the city you should be able to find some real hardcore schools - they are tough shit, seriously - they know what the hell they are doing, esp kyokushin

real judo is good for what ails you, serious

I'll keep that in mind - If it's one stlye of Karate that I have the utmost respect for it is Kyokushin-kai. Mas Oyama was a serious headcase!
