o.k. then, rickson only needs to send in a bad high school photo in which he is blinking for the pride poster and everything will be set.

I never seen Rickson in a fight, only the VERY cool high light reel Sherdog did about him and I have one thing to say, WOW.
Granted, for the exception of Funaki, Rickson didn't fight anyone of note. Takada is only of note because of his name, but thats really it. Anyway, in these clips he looked to be fighting guys that Royce and Renzo were fighting to spread the word about Jiu Jitsu in the early 90s. While they all dominated their opponents, Rickson looked like he killed his opponents. Beating the living snot out of a guy that looked at least 5-6 inches bigger then him. My whole point is, Rickson looked like a supreme bad ass and unlike Royce and Royler, I think Rickson could be a naturally gifted fighter rather then someone whose awesome in BJJ. The fights looked like there was never any question who would win either.
Now, I think a lot of people forget that

Ronin,
Clumsy takedown attempts? I know that's the prevailing wisdom on the internet (particularly among the UG village idiots), but Rickson almost always executes his takedown plan perfectly. You won't often see him shoot a double leg, as that is not his game--he wants to close the distance and clinch, and judging his takedown ability solely from the fact that he doesn't take many leg shots doesn't make a whole lot of sense. FYI, he actually did shoot a double against Takada in Pride-1, and it was pretty smooth and effective (against a 40-pound heavier fighter at that). Anyway, from the clinch, the plan is to look for a leg sweep or throw, and he's demonstrated that he's pretty apt in here as well.
I just can't see how people think Rickson's stand-up game is so bad, when there is NO ONE in MMA who closes the distance as well as he does.

I agree. If "anyone" deserves an a$$ whoopin' it is Rickson. He has build his reputation solely on dominating washed-up Japanese journeyman, other fuzzy little Brazilians in practice, and 14-year-old TKD whitebelts to help sell B-quality videos for his money-grubbing brother.
But the fact remains Rickson has *NEVER* faced a quality opponent in NHB. And please don't say Zulu. The man was a giant Yubange tribesman on crack, not a skilled fighter.
For Rickson not to give Sak credit for single-handedly obliterating the (LOL) "Gracie Dynasty" is small and lame ... which is something we have come to expect from Rickson.
Yours truly,
Joe

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe, you forgot all those faggot boxers Rickson kicked the $h** out of. When Rickson first got here he toured the country, along with his brothers, taking on all comers including wrestlers, boxers, etc., etc. He'd already kicked everybody's @$$ in Brazil. NHB today is much different then NHB in the first 3 or 4 UFCs. Whether Rickson has proved himself in watered down, you can't kick if you wear shoesies, you can't hit in the back of the neck, etc., etc.
NHB I could care less. He's proved himself in many more venues then Sak at this point in time. Instead of in Japan where Pride constantly changes the rules, why not have this fight where the Abu Dhabi takes place and let the Sheik bankroll it. He's into Grappling, he's got the bread, and it'll be a place neither have fought in. Sak is a good fighter, however many of his fights have been controversial.
Pull him out of his backyard with real NHB rules and let's see how he does.

hawk is right on. I don't think sak has been in many street fights (real NHB) or challenge matches. rickson has been fighting the big tournies for years now, but for sak I think he could get his mean streak back. as funaki how rickson was after getting hit in the eye, that fight changed from that point on. if sak tried any of his ring sillyness and angered rickson, watch out. I see rickson hurting sak to make a point if they ever fight. they need to fight outside japan though or else there will be rule problems and favoritism.

I agree Vortex.. they should fight with one of the Gracies students as the referee, in an event organized by his brother. Oh wait... they've already done that.
I might be one of the few people who are neutral on this fight. I tend to see either the blind Gracie line of.. bad rules...blah blah... unbeatable.. blah blah.. If Rickson got MAD.. blah blah. OR you get the standard Rickson sucks.. blah blah.. he never fought anyone line.
I figure if people who don't owe any homage to Rickson (a la Gurgel, etc.) say he is the best ever, he's pretty good, right? Then again, Sak beat 3 "unbeatable" fighters, and he is much more in his prime.. and much more current than Rickson. Either way, give each guy their due. I'd have to say, though, Sak has definitely fought better opponents.
This would definitely be a fight for the ages. Think anyone can put it together?
