I know some on this forum think of me as a joke, but it is only because they have no respect for the true power of karate.

The "true power of Karate"? Getting kind of "Karate Kid" on us, aren't you Tracy? Powerful people don't have to talk about it... or advertise it with Tigers on the backs of their jackets...

What is wrong with wearing clothing having to do with the martial arts? You seem to be implying that my instructor was asking for trouble by doing this. Furthermore, does a true martial artist criticise other martial artists? Especially when it is an obvious attempt to build themselves up in a passive/aggresive manner? That is the quesion you should be asking yourself. Thank you for your input.

                Hi Tracey.

I also think it unwise to wear clothing stating that you do martila Arts.

This is not said to criticise your instructor though. it is a criticism of some people who are mindless morons and will use it as an excuse to cause trouble.

In a perfect world you should wear what you want. But if you're going to wear what you want in this world then be prepared to accept the consequences.

                  take a nice, deep breath...

                  Well said, Bri Thai...

Tracey, relax... I'm not criticizing anyone. Criticism is not implicit in differing opinions. My first style was, in fact, classical Okinawan Karate. As to asking for trouble, I believe your post entitled "Attacked at the Mall" stated that your instructor (who I'm sure is a terrific martial artist) did, in fact, find trouble as a direct result of his jacket. I'm not implying anything, just recalling your story. Passive/agressive? Hmmm. Better look up what that means, and re-read your own posts. I "build myself up" not by posts on the internet, but by training hard, wherein lies the "true power" of any art... and you're quite welcome for my input!

Tracey, instead of trying to psycho-analyze people with the latest in psycho-babble try to think beyond the idea of "I can wear whatever I want." Wearing a jacket, t-shirt, patch or carrying a gym bag with an MA logo on it is a magnet for punks to challenge you. It is not a criticism, it is a fact. Besides, if a martial artist can not handle criticism, how can he/she expect to improve? Like throwing a side-kick wrong, how can you expect to perform it correctly without criticism?

Just one more thing, quit trying to be so uppity. And you are welcome for MY input.

Would you all stop bagging each other. True Martial artists do not sqabble among each other.

If you ask me this is a useless poll.

Try talking about something that will benefit martial artists.

                      OK

Crazyjoe was certanly the loudest troll, with the best insults! He didn't really get to me at all though, the only one who ever ticked me off was my buddy JOHNNY LOL!!

Just remember, it's all over in 59 seconds or less...

Is this what you call benefiting martial artists, talk about something useful.

Talk about things like Training, technique etc. Please

                          Ok

                              ?

You see if a newbie came to this site and clicked on this thread read it, they would probably leave. Because their after MA info not petty squabling.

So if we talked about something constructive it would benefit all of us. We would learn new things, they would learn new things, they may sign-up. Then they would post there own info and the cycle would start again.

                              Perfect!
