I had to be hospitalized for depression. I'm feeling better now and back to teaching. I seriously think this forum had something to do with my depression. Also the fact that I emailed Royce and got no response.

Description of Appeal to Pity
An Appeal to Pity is a fallacy in which a person substitutes a claim intended to create pity for evidence in an argument. The form of the "argument" is as follows:
P is presented, with the intent to create pity.
Therefore claim C is true.
This line of "reasoning" is fallacious because pity does not serve as evidence for a claim. This is extremely clear in the following case: "You must accept that 1+1=46, after all I'm dying..." While you may pity me because I am dying, it would hardly make my claim true.
Ok, Roy didn't actually use this tatic, ....yet.....
But it's in the undercurrents.

Listen you guys have no idea what kind of problems I've been dealing with. This forum was a small part of my depression. Being constantly berated on here for no reason wasn't helping. As far as me e-mailing Royce, I was feeling very depressed and vulnerable and I thought It would make me feel better getting an e-mail from Royce. He never returned it. The problems in my life just toppled on each other one after another till I finally couldn't take it anymore. I feel bad that I neglected teaching my boys, but in the midst of my depression I actually started to feel unworthy and that I was actually doing them a disservice.
Once again I was not hospitalized because of this forum!!!!

Roy, lighten up.
I understand the demons that we all have in our brains.
Most times were are strong enough to handle them but through out our lives, the fine line between insanity and sanity can be crossed many times. How do I know this, besides the fact that I run the line all the time, I do have a degree in Psychology.
Hell most people that are Psychiatrists and Psychologists are very screwed up people themselves. The stories if only I could tell....
You've set yourself up many times for abuse here and you should look at your motivations why you say certain thngs.
Is bad attention better than no attention?
If you lurked here, and just read, no one would take potshots at you. If you decide to jump in the fire, you may and will get burned.
it's just a matter of how tough you are.
On a side note, if you did e-mail Royce and didn't get a response back, there are many reasons why.
First off, he not have received it.
Secondly, Royce gets so many e-mails that he probably just can't answer them all personally.
