    Soccer?

What does soccer have to do with MA?

And I'm not sure if any of them know BJJ

Does any one else know if the players do BJJ?

BJJ would be good cross training for any sport, beside the point of the Brazilian's exceptional soccer players submitting everyone in the world cup competition

There's this guy named Pele, he used to play soccer for Brazil and was quite good. Pele being Brazilian, is a national sports icon/hero in Brazil. So soccer is the game to play, in addition to the fact that soccer is far more popular throughout the rest of the world than it is in the US.

O.k. let me ask you this. Why is the U.S Basketball team so dominant and why are the football teams better than any one else?

In basketball, height is important. Americans are among the best-fed individuals in the world. Unfortunately, this "best-fed-ness" translates into horizontal girth but occasional, you find seven foot tall specimens who dominate on the basketball court.

No one else in the world is crazy enough to play American Football. Hello?!?! McFly?!?! There's a reason why they call it AMERICAN Football - only Americans play it. You can't expect some kid in Spain who's never seen a football in his life except maybe in an American movie ("Papa, why are all those big, beefy men in scandalously tight pants chasing that other man with the ball?") to go medieval on the gridiron.

Also basketball and football are American sports. Soccer is a worldwide game, hence the World Cup. One World Cup playoff game has more viewers than the Super Bowl, worldwide. American football may not be as popular worldwide because it is quite boring. The average amount of actual play in any pro football game is something on the order of 12 minutes. Not 12 minutes per quarter, 12 minutes through the ENTIRE game.

In the land of basketball, there aren't many basketball leagues around the world beside the NBA. So you throw a couple dozen pro US players against an amateur team from another country and you have a US team that plays golf when they aren't playing basketball creaming teams that are spending their spare time at practice trying to get a little bit more of an edge over the next team they play.

It's hard to get out of the mentality that there are other sports besides American sports.

                  Americans!

Sadly totay to many people, contries etc are becoming "americnized" they did a study in Australia they went around the street asking people who was the firts american president and the first Australian Primeminister. Amzingly all of them knew who the president but very few knew who was the primeminister.

Kids are bombarded with crap on TV from america day in day out. Not to mention things like McDonalds Etc.

At the turn of the 20th century a Japanese soccer expert travelled to Brazil, whilst there he met a man who wished for this man to teach his sons to play soccer.

The Japanese expert taught the mans sons to play soccer better than anyone else in Brazil. The man then returned to Japan and the sons named the game after themselves and pretended that they invented the sport.

This is why Brazilians are good at soccer.

Are you talking about Carlson Gracie? Has anyone seen UFC 1 and would like to talk about it?

                          Thanks,
