i will use ufc as an example,
many fighters go into ufc with only one style, they only know one discipline whether it be tkd , ju jitsu, etc i think that to be a successful fighter in ufc you need to train in more than one martial art, you need two opposites like judo and tkd if you trained in all of those you would be an all rounder, you could kick, throw, grapple etc. the people who are trained in more than one art tend to be more successful. the people who train just for ufc no prpoer style or discipline i dont think do as well because i beleive that i fighter needs to fully under stand a martial art before he/she uses it the fighter needs to know everything about the art he does then do this with a few different styles, jsut knowing bits of different styles isnt much use
