I remember my first fight -- what a rush!
Is this a tournament or a single fight? If it's a tournament, my advice to you is to RELAX in between your matches. You will get gased like you won't believe if you stay too hyper in between your fights. Find a nice place to lie down, sip on some Gatorade and wait until you're called up again.
Seiously, try to stay focused without staying 'intense'.

You'll have to do something to get them down so you can submit them. But be careful going in for singles. I friend of mine that wrestled for many years came to my bjj class the other night and rolled with some good guys. They all beat him. One guy was able to counter everything he tried. He got armbared very easy when he tried single legs. The other guy just shot his arm down and scooped his arm as he came in.

not trying to be mean but he must be a bad wrestler if they can grab his arm. good wrestlers have very fast and quick shots that bjj players do not really practice. So i was thinking of combing my standup wrestling skills with wrestling and bjj ground skills to make a good grappling system. I need to work on my submissions a lot though. havent had to much work with them.

This guy is an extremely good wrestler. But they knew he was a wrestler and all of them have wrestled in the past also. Ask your instructor about it. I'm sure he'll know some armbars from those kind of takedowns.
I've almost caught him in armbars from very low singles. He takes me all the way down, but I just sit up and start working my legs over. I'll perfect it in time

Shooting isn't a bad plan, but if you plan on shooting you better be ready for the guillotine and know how to counter it.
My personal philosophy is stay loose. The more you try to force things, the more tense your muscles get and the more energy you expend.
