It seems that most people from striking arts karate, kung fu,etc....seem to think that grapplers cant strike?
But also most grapplers think strikers can't grapple.
The fact is both would be wrong.
I'm what you guy's would call a striker i study kung fu i have for about 16yrs ,and studied karate for 4yrs.I used to wrestle back in school. If you think i can't grapple you would be in for a life changing surprise. Not because of my wrestling in school ,but my kung fu training. Most kung fu styles have Chin Na the problem is that most people dont wanna take the time to learn Chin Na. They wanna learn the extoic forms of kung fu like 8 Drunken immortals and animal techniques.
I've always been lucky in my kung fu training that i've had very traditional Sifu/teachers.Most people seem to think that ground fighting did'nt exsit in China. Wrong!!! Chin Na is not just a few techniques like most think. There is a system of Chin Na that has punches, kicks, weapons, ground fighting, and all the techniques Chin Na is known for.In my current style Black Tiger we have the system of China Na not just a few techniques like most.We practice our grappling techniques all the time with our striking techniques.Because we still train the way my sifu was trained in Hong Kong.
Black Tiger has some of the hardest training in the martial arts world. We train with dummies made of wood, cement, and iron.
"Yes Iron" That is why Black Tiger is so rare. Not many people in this day and time wanna train that hard ,but we do.I don't knock any martial art because they all have their place ,but i don't underestimate any either!
What good is ground fighting if you can't take them down?
Also what good is striking if you're on the ground unable to strike?
